DoD: Hawaii Guardsman dies in Kuwait

HONOLULU — The Pentagon says a 19-year-old soldier from the Hawaii National Guard was fatally wounded in a noncombat-related incident in Kuwait.

Private First Class Cwislyn K. Walter, of Honolulu, died Thursday in Kuwait City. She was assigned to the 29th Special Troops Battalion, 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Hawaii National Guard.

The military says the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

Walter graduated from Farrington High School.
