A Reserve airman died March 7 after collapsing during a physical fitness test conducted at McGuire Air Force Base, N.J.

Tech. Sgt. Mitchell McClain, assigned to the 35th Aerial Port Squadron, passed out after feeling ill during the run portion of the Air Force physical fitness test, according to a base spokesman.

McClain, 40, was taken to a nearby gym, collapsed and stopped breathing.

He was taken to Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, N.J., where doctors were unable to revive him.

Cause of death was not immediately known.
