They are all volunteers, everyone in the military is a volunteer.

He implies that you can quit at anytime like a volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Yes you do willing sign up to serve but after you receive training you no longer can 'nonvolunteer' easily.

The biggest line I hate from right wing people especially those who never served is...

'Well they signed up for this'

God I want to smack them right in the mouth.

I am not a peacenik if there is a REAL threat to the security of the United States and I was needed I would do it without reservations.

START WAVING THE FLAG START PICKING UP THE RIFLE!

I realize it is "patriotically incorrect", but I also dislike it when they say soldiers in Iraq are "fighting for our freedom or defending our freedom" - what boulderdash. Our freedoms were never in jeopardy because of Iraq or Saddam Hussein.

The only war we had in the past 100 years where we truly were defending our Freedoms was World War II - all the others were defending (or attempting to) OTHER people's freedoms - a noble idea still, but it always seems to morph into "defeding our freedoms".

3. Yup
And the gung-ho arm-chair generals fail to realize, the faster the leaders abuse & lose the volunteers - the sooner an alternative source of getting warm bodies in uniform will need to be found.

4. I agree as well
As a former Marine, and if the US were really in danger, then I would probably do it all over again (even at my age). Those armchair warriors do need a good whacking.
