COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Two men arrested in the shooting death of Army Spc. Kevin Shields have been arrested in the death of another Fort Carson soldier, police said Saturday.

Former Fort Carson soldier Louis Bressler, 24, current Fort Carson soldier Bruce Bastien Jr., 21, and Kenneth Eastridge, 24, were arrested earlier this month after Shields’ body was found on a sidewalk early Dec. 1. Bressler and Eastridge were arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder while Bastien was held on suspicion of accessory to first-degree murder. Shields, Bressler, Eastridge and Bastien served together in Iraq with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.

On Monday, police arrested Bastien on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Pfc. Robert James, a Fort Carson-based soldier, on Aug. 4. His body was found with gunshot wounds in a car at a bank parking lot. Bressler was arrested on the same charge Saturday in connection with James’ death. James had served in Iraq and served in the 43rd Area Support Group.

Police said they believe the suspects are tied to a Colorado Springs crime ring and are investigating whether Bastien, Bressler and Eastridge are connected to other crimes in the last several months.

They were being held without bond Saturday and had court dates set for Monday.
