"This is a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah"
Yesterday at the gym, my partner was discussing the tragedy in New Orleans with an acquaintance. She responded that "this is a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah." He turned to her and said "You have got to be kidding me! Are you saying that God hates poor black people?"

It was classic!

1. Hey! I resent that! I live in Gomorrah!

:hi:

Los Angeles must be Gomorrah. We have the Original American Sodom about 400 miles up the coast, in San Francisco. :sarcasm:

I think I'll do sort of like your partner, and start confusing the Fundie morons with Biblical references. Obviously most of them have never read the damn thing.

Maybe New Orleans can be the Modern Jericho. Or the Modern Megiddo. Or it could be the Biblical Sidon, which famous false prophet Jesus H. Christ predicted would be destroyed. (Sidon still stands today, just where it always has, off the coast of Israel.)

I think JHC also predicted the capture/destruction of Sidon's island sister city Tyre. He was right about that one, but around 300 years too late for it to qualify as any kind of "prophecy." Alexander The Great vanquished Tyre, in an incredible Battle Of The Ancient Engineers. Fire ships! Siege towers and catapults! Great stuff!
