1. You know
I know Sen. Kerry deeply regrets this vote. It's regrettable because of the perception that was created by the constant meme "vote for war." He clearly wanted inspections to continue.

Some people are so clueless: They're crying for impeachment and at the same time characterizing the IWR vote as a vote for war. If that's the case, then Bush didn't violate it! It was the same stupid case Bush himself tried to make. Luckily a lot of Americans didn't buy it. Bush stands in clear violation of the IWR, and on top of he lied to get his way!

2. But people like Al Sharpton and other Dems bought into it

I know Kerry was voting for diplomacy and the inspections. But we all know that Bush would have gone to Iraq without the vote anyway. It was brought up during the 04 election. Why are people letting Bush get away with his lies?

3. Speaking of lapses in logic
I also love the ones who pummel him for conceding, then turn around and say he didn't win anyway.

If you think somebody was a lousy candidate who didn't win, then conceding the election would be the right thing to do. If he hadn't and still hadn't gotten the votes, they'd be slamming him for being a sore loser and embarrassing the party. I don't see how people can be so oblivious to their own contradictions.

4. I checked the comments on Huffington Post
and found the usual whining stupidity, sprinkled with a few laudable Kerry supporters. You know many of the supporters (thank you , Luftmenschen), and you know, unfortunately, the whiners. But here's a commentin another category, offering hope that minds can be changed: "Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way.
Senator Kerry, it sounds like you finally want to lead. We are bereft of competent leadership.
You deserve a shot at it.
We're listening."

5. One of the best
Senator Kerry, I have read your prescient speech before your vote on the war authorization and I recommend others read it, too. These lines stand out:

"In giving the President this authority, I expect him to fulfill the commitments he has made to the American people in recent days--to work with the United Nations Security Council to adopt a new resolution setting out tough and immediate inspection requirements, and to act with our allies at our side if we have to disarm Saddam Hussein by force. If he fails to do so, I will be among the first to speak out.

If we do wind up going to war with Iraq, it is imperative that we do so with others in the international community, unless there is a showing of a grave, imminent--and I emphasize 'imminent'--threat to this country which requires the President to respond in a way that protects our immediate national security needs."

Not only did Bush lie about the justification for the war, he lied about his intention to avoid war to begin with. For this he deserves impeachment. In fact, the first step toward bringing the world together again would be to try Bush an his cronies for war crimes.

After that the rest are just playing games!
