A preview of coming attractions. |
|
First of all, I want to give a massive :grouphug: to everyone here for all the blog and media rapid response. It's extremely important to fight the crap that is being put out there.
Excellent. That's what this is going to take, everyone coming together in support.
I am sure everyone knows this, at least in the back of their mind, but this is just an example of what's to come in the event of "The Announcement." The smearing is beginning in earnest, and it's time to get fully in gear.
This will pass. It'll be old news by the end of the week and will not have an effect on who wins in our races, despite the hand-wringing of people who, to quote KOS (of ALL people), are afraid of their own shadow. The big story in less than a week will be the election results and the new Democratic Senators-elect that we will have. There's also a strong possibility, with three very tight senate races, that a post-election recount battle will seize the news. This will be finished by the end of the week, without a doubt, and I am confident that we will win the narrative. When all is said and done, this will not be about how Kerry hates the troops; it'll be about how the Republicans desperately clung to a deliberate misinterpretation of a joke in a futile and failed attempt to hold on to power. IF there is any mention of this after Tuesday, it will be how the Republicans tried and failed to make an issue of it.
But we just got a nice taste of how desperate the Republican Party and its media lapdogs are to destroy Kerry, and how low they'll go to take him out. They fear him like they fear no other politician because of what he would expose about them. This is not going to be an easy fight.
Here we come.

1. That one line says it all: |
|
"They fear him like they fear no other politician because of what he would expose about them."

2. But can we PLEASE get a YouTube video of Bush saying his |
|
collected gaffes?
Here's a headline
BUSH CALLS FOR MORE HARM TO AMERICANS
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

3. We should compile something like this for Kos and see where it goes. |
|
The media might work with us on this, pointing out the hypocrisy of the Bush and the Republicans.

Hang tight.
We're not demoralized here. We're PISSED.
But you're right, this will pass. "If" (or, as soon as :P) he makes The Announcement, this shit will be dragged out again, but because the 2006 elections will not be an issue anymore, it will be discussed fully and openly. Right now a major problem is that we have some Chicken Little Democrats who are terrified of anything that moves because they're unable to really believe that we're going to win something.
This won't be a problem after the elections. This will be brought up again after The Announcement, but after that discussion, it'll be over. Done for all time. Anyone trying to make an issue of it after that will simply look petty, partisan, and behind the times.
It's hard now, but it will get better. This is not the end. Kerry has come back from far worse. Don't let ANYONE convince you otherwise.

6. Honey, I know who supports the troops |
|
and I know who is standing up for them against the worst civilian leaders in American History. I know who has supported the troops from the days when he sought to get better treatment for returning wounded Vietnam Vets all those years ago. I know, in this Congress, who fought for TriCare and everything else that really matters for 'our troops.' I know this.
BTW, I think Sen. Kerry did the courageous things to remove himself from the fray this week and concentrate on the fundraising. I also think this will blow over in time. But, in a race as important as this one, why be a distraction? He is a good and gracious man. I wish the other Dems were good and gracious as well. Sigh!

It'll be yesterday's news by the election. Despite the desperate media cheerleading for it to affect the election, it won't. No one will switch their vote over this. If they say they have, they're liars or delusional. They were always going to vote Republican. It'll probably come up again after the Announcement, but it will be permanently pounded into the ground when that happens, and will be dead. It's a complete non-issue for 2008. What's going on now is shortsightedness of an epic degree.
