Fantasy vs. Reality
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 12:14 AM by politicasista
It's really laughable that we haven't gotten through Tuesday yet and everyone is dreaming of presidential seals dancing on their preferred candidates' heads since the gaffe happened.

I think people are going to be in for a rude awakening if they think that the media is going to go easy on a certain candidate if he/she is mispeek-free, or baggage-free.

I find it very pathetic that people are using an unfortunate incident to promote their favorites and think what happened to Kerry (or Gore) won't happen to anyone in 2008, they are going to be in for a reality check. The media is GOP controlled and that's the bottom line.

This whole "my candidate can/will woulda, coulda, shoulda ______" is false. The truth is if we don't have a fair and balanced media, they will smear and distort any Democrat period.

Note: If this is not appropriate right now, I can delete it.

1. This is absolutely true
And I think it's perfectly appropriate.

(Although I wish you wouldn't worry so much about what's appropriate or not, even when we disagree. I always love ya sista!!)

Always love ya too.:hi:

I said appropriate because it has been a rough week and this is BS spin that bloggers (ok DUers) are falling for.

It was in one of the Kerry threads in GD and the last couple days that inspired me to post this.

4. This diary is very appropriate for this thread
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/11/3/121110/554

It's about what the GOP does. Money quote from Dick Armey:

"A fundamental premise of politics is we can make this work if people just never figure it out."

That will be just as true for the rest of them. Yet the diariest was absolutely flogged for his diary, until finally someone said -- yeah, that's a good lesson for the future.

Just remember the timeline -- when Kerry stood up, the lefty blogosphere stood with him. And then it all fell apart when the DC Dems decided to throw him to the wolves and leave him for dead.

5. I agree. There will be a rude awakening.
Everybody thinks they know what it takes to run for President. Amazing how righteous everyone is, isn't it? How smart and perfect their judgment is and how perfect their "candidate" that it doesn't matter what they do to anyone else who might even be considering a run. People like this get a rude awakening when they learn they cannot control the external forces that will come into play when their candidate actually goes head to head with the real political forces outside their tiny, insulated sphere.

Running for President is not easy. The media in our country no longer reports the news: it creates the news. They are more concerned with what will play in which market and their ratings than they are in the value of what they report. It's more than corrupt: our news is a circus side show.

We've had to listen to a lot of crap about Senator Kerry from supporters of potential rivals for the 2008 nomination, so I don't think it is ever too early to discuss the attitude adjustment and rude awakening that these folks badly need and will surely get. The reason I have little sympathy for them is because of their behavior. Kerry supporters don't look for Jim Beam (made up candidate :7) support threads and jump in with the express intent of causing trouble and defaming Mr. Beam. However, have we ever had a pro-Kerry thread that didn't get at least one supporter of Mr. Beam or another potential candidate on the thread whining or bitching about Kerry? So when it's their turn to get their asses handed to them (and their candidate) by the media, I'm not going to be sympathetic. What goes around...

6. Very well put
and very appropiate and you will see it even more after Tuesday. Some could care less about honor and integrity, well we all saw who has those qualities this week, and those who think differently are in for a rude awakening.
