The prediction thread
Anynody willing to make predictions for tomorrow. (For fun and to see yourself all wrong in print the next day.)

Ahm, I still see the Senate gaining 5 seats for the Dems

I think 22 seats in the House.

Anyone else?

2. This part of the elections I don't find funny. I have a large knot in
my stomach right now that won't go away until after it is all over. Calm and serene I am not, but I will add my worthless predictions and hopes,

Senate- 6 seats
House- 20

I really want to see us regain the Senate for JK sake as well as for America.

3. I'll be a little more optimistic
House: 35
Senate: 5 - though I would love to say 6. There are so many shaky possible gains. I think Steele is the only Rep gain to worry about. He was slick on MTP, but hopefully Bush ties will bring him down.

4. I'm bringing out my broom
There is going to be a clean sweep tomorrow.

I say 30 seats in the House.

7 in the Senate.

That said, I am so nervous about the voting machines.

6. Did you guys see this on the Simpsons last night?
Apparently, Fox censored a line about Iraq at the end that is in this clip. And the show did not end with the jokey Halloween music, like the Treehouse of Horrors eps usually do.

Wow!

7. 6 and 26
I think NY, PA & OH are going to give us a lot of seats. I still don't understand how Virginia can vote for Macaca, no offense to our fellow Virginians, that one just bugs me.

8. We take the House
27 House pickups. Don't ask me which ones. I don't know. A lot in the Northeast and Midwest.

Senate seats.
We lose none that we currently hold. Pickups:

PA -- Casey by 10 points
OH -- Brown by 9 pts
RI -- Whitehouse by 7 pts
MT -- Tester by 3 points

I am unsure about VA and MO. I think VA is more likely because of the Allen campaign's incompetence, stories that he is broke and has no ground game. But I'll go out on a limb.

VA -- Webb by 2 points
MO -- McCaskill in a squeaker, less than 1 point after a recount.

22. Really? Why? I know several Bush voters who are going for Webb.
This makes me think Webb will win comfortably. I just talked to my swing voter friend, who voted for Bush in '04, Kaine in '05, and Webb in '06. Her record of picking the winner makes me think Webb will win. True, it's anecdotal, but I just have a good feeling.

23. I hope you're right.
I am 100% confident that in a completely fair election, Webb would win.

I am just spooked that the Allen/RNC/NRSC voter suppression will make it closer than it should be.

24. Just found this actual recording of the thug call:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9i-_3TiN9g

Let me reiterate that I know people who are voting for Webb who are white, living in largely Republican districts, who voted for Bush, and who are, in general, fairly conservative. They won't be effected by the voter suppression crap. Allen and his thugs don't even know that people are running away from them -- we're talking military people. Look, I could be wrong, but I say Webb wins WITH voter suppression. And in Northern Virginia, which is very blue, there is RECORD turnout. That's how Kaine won.

9. I had a dream the other night!
After all the bullshit about JK last week, I was feeling very "maternal", and protective inside. In my empathy for him (I guess), I dreamed that I was visiting with him and Teresa in their home, as an old friend. We were just hanging out, very casually talking about things. Sitting around on the floor in front of the fire, with a glass of fine wine, as if we were good, old friends. John was feeling bad about his "gaff" and having a hard time believing that some of his "close friends" could even think that he meant what the "repukes" and talking heads, said he meant. I had this overwhelming feeling in my dream that everything happened for a reason, and will be for the best in the long run. A lot of y'all were in my dream too, but don't ask me who, 'cause it was just a "sense" of your spirits being there!! We were all consoling one another, and trying to "lift up" John's hope for the future and encourage him to keep going forward!! It was so real, I didn't want to wake up, but just bask in his presence!!:grouphug: :loveya: Any how, my prediction is 35 House, and 8 Senate! GO TEAM!! I too am worried about recounts, and a looooooong fight for a final count. I am preparing for the WORST and praying for the best. They are not going to go down without kicking and screaming. I wouldn't put it past them to knock out the whole power grid of the USA to keep us all from voting...and then call for Marshall Law! Now how's that for a "tin foil hat"???:tinfoilhat: Something smelly is in the wind. There have been intermittent power outages around the country, for no really good reason, and the repukes are (all of a sudden) worried about electronic voting!! Be prepared for them to claim that our wins were stolen!!! Hypocritical bastids!!

10. making some guesses
Hodes D in a squeeker over Bass-R in NH congress

Bradley-R keeps seat in NH over Shea-Porter-D

The Democrats pick up 22-25 in congress

Senate

Menendez D wins in NJ

Chafee R pulls out a close win in Rhode Island (if you have anyone to convince in RI get them out to vote tomorrow)

*Webb D over Allen R

*Tester D close win over Burns R

*Brown D over Blackwell R in Ohio

*McCaskill D over Talent R in Missouri

Liebermann (sleaze party) over Lamont D in Connecticut

*Casey D over Santorum R in PA

Corker R over Ford D in TN

Sanders I wins in VT (he will vote with the dems so will make up for Liebermann)

Kyl R over Pedersen D in AR

Cardin D close over Steele R in MD

That's 5 full pick ups in the Senate.

15. My guess.
30 House
6 Senate

Undecided about Lamont and Lieberman race. The Republicans have put a lot of money there and they'd love to take down the Dem. candidate. I think Lamont in the end. Too much distressing news on the Republican side--including the military op-ed, the Foley and Haggart thing, and now the push calling. I think Lamont in the end.

I think Webb will win.

16. My guess is
24 in the House and 5 in the Senate. Of course I hope that I'm wrong and that we pick up more!

I am so frickin' nervous this morning and there aren't even any major seats up for grabs in North Carolina this year. (At least not in my neck of the woods.)

Good luck to all of you who have major races going on in your state, and THANK YOU to everyone here who worked so hard to get their candidates elected! Once the blue tide rolls in, we will owe you all a huge debt of gratitude!

20. Very optimistic about the House
House: 30+. Senate: I'm worried that it will end up 50-50. With you-know-who as tie breaker. (so would that mean that the repubs maintain majority status?)

21. Technically
The makeup of the committees would be closer than if they had an outright majority, but there would be a repug majority leader.

I am bracing for a contested election in Virginia. If Allen comes out ahead by a few hundred or a couple thousand votes, it will be because of the election fraud, and Webb should file suit. I suspect he will do just that if that happens.

I think everything else will be decided by tomorrow morning, and I'm hoping I'm wrong about Virginia and that Webb will be declared the winner tonight or tomorrow morning!

25. I wished I could be more confident for the Senate.
However, I have the feeling that it would really mean that everything goes in the right direction for us to get the Senate. So, it is not impossible, but certainly unlikely with only 8 GOP seats in play including AZ and 6 to win and 2 seats to defend.

It may yet be, if Macaca will concede already. But right now I don't see any signs that he's giving it up.

Let me say that I FULLY support a recount, provided that we have people in every spot where ballots are being handled. I just don't think it'll make any difference! ;)
