Lieberman apparently plotting revenge on Kerry
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/11/6/13103/9397

The Lieberman campaign is feeling both feisty and confident. They can start checking names off their list of Democrats who turned on the three term incumbent after his August primary defeat.

The Lieberman people took delight early last week in telling a story of John Kerry's rebuff by Senate Democratic leaders when he lobbied them to lend some aid to Democrat aristocrat Ned Lamont's flagging campaign. Lieberman's campaign is delighted it still has friends in high places. They received added satisfaction when Lieberman got to pile on Kerry mid-week as the haughty Massachusetts neighbor limped off the campaign field.

This article is pure spin, and the hit job is evident in the language in the piece. But isn't it just incredible how the press will use such terms as "Democrats turned on Lieberman" after he LOST HIS PRIMARY but won't use the same words to describe Democrats who really did turn on Kerry.

It just sickens me that these backstabbing traitorous windbags get a free pass from the press, but good and honest people like Kerry get a kick in the teeth.

Joe is a petty, vindictive, small man. Sadly if he wins, he is likely to get what he asks for, because I totally see him blackmailing the party with threatening to caucus with Republicans.

Anyone can rat, but it takes a certain amount of ingenuity to re-rat.

2. and sadly, he's going to the Dark Side anyway
whether the Dems coddle him or not (OK, he's already there,de facto, but it could easily get worse than that). Totally agree that he's a small man, whose soul has shrunk to the size of a pea in the course of this election.

3. Matthews' panel got it right - Hillary and McCain will lose 2008 because of
what they said. And many other Dems who screwed over the base will feel the wrath of the netroots, too - It's Kerry and Clark who proved their stand up credentials.

I can't wait for the Lamont people to tell the whole story after the election as they promised.

4. That's true, and people on DKos finally get it
If you look in the comments for that thread, the ones with the most recommends are the ones which talk about how Kerry and Clark sided with the grassroots rather than the insider clique this year.

5. Yep. And perhaps Lamont would have had a better shot at it if
the Dem's had back the true choice of the people and not a long term member of their boy's club.
Lieberman is going to cause trouble, but I don't see what all he can do to Kerry. He never really votes with him anyway. Then again,I am sure some of this is just spin. Just wait till Kerry comes back strong and watch the jaws drop.
What is sad, with all the deals and backstabbing nothing of real importance is ever accomplished and good deeds go unnoticed.

6. Lieberman is full of hot air
I don't expect him to do anything to Kerry. In Joementum terms, this revenge plot probably amounts to something like endorsing Hillary and working in a sideways slam at Kerry, or talking about him on Fox. But this is someone who is VERY full of himself.

with Biden and Hillary, etc. But that will only make Kerry look better to liberals and progressives.

I had an interesting discussion in the office kitchen this morning with a young grad student who is frantic about the election tomorrow, and wildly enthused about Obama in 08. I told her I was strictly for Kerry, who she likes, but sees as less charismatic than Obama (she is quite young.) When I said I liked Obama but saw him as too green for the job, she said, "That's what my dad says. But who is qualified?" I said - Kerry - he's the only one who is.

She didn't agree - her argument was, well Rumsfeld and Cheney were experienced, and what did that get us? Not a very persuasive argument, since both had black souls to start with. But it got her thinking. And she does really like Kerry a lot; she was ranting about the whole "botched joke" incident.

As an aside, for some reason the mess last week reverberated strongly with all the young people I know, who all saw it as grossly unfair and stupid.

8. You're right on target with the liberals and progressives comment.
I can think of no better endorsement for JK than having earned the ire of Lieberman.

9. Don't forget to remind them that Hillary "donated" her communications guru
Howard Wolfson to Lamont's campaign. Isn't that exactly when he lost some spark for awhile?

I don't believe in coincidence with this gang - think Joe Lockhart.

11. Good observation. Never thought of that -- In a way
I wish Liebermann would just go and caucus with the Republicans. Who would trust him in their committee.

This is a good observation ---> we should remember this.

10. But WE will be united an energized
I don't think the LIEberman wing is counting on the fact that taking one of the wings of power was only the FIRST step. Once we do that, then they're going to have to face a united netroots & grassroots who are going to begin demanding living wage, health care, education, exit strategy, renewable energy, etc etc. CHANGE isn't a slogan to us. So let him huff and puff, it's not going to last long.
