The new leadership team in MA
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 08:47 AM by Mass

(I am missing a photo of Martha Coakley, first woman elected AG in MA).

We made history yesterday.

Does anybody have the transcript or the video of our new governor. It was such an inspiring speech.

I got about 3 1/2 hours of sleep - but it was so worth it!!

I was afraid if I went to bed I'd find out in the morning that all the votes had flipped.

I STILL feel like it was a dream. It was a real trip watching my daughter - her first dem win!! She was sooo happy.

5. Congrats to all of Massachusetts!!
I'm so happy for you! In Wisconsin, our Dem Gov. Doyle won re-election over creepy little Rep. Green, the Bush clone. Also our state House of Reps flipped to Dem! Senate still Repub, but their numbers eroded. :woohoo:

6. IT was a complete smackdown
Before Deval

6 out of 40 State Senators in MA were Repubs.
Looks like they are down to 5 now.,

21 out of 160 State Reps were Repubs.
Might be down to 19 now.

Lowest percentage of Republicans in Massachusetts State House since 1867!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mass Repubs go back to Siberia.

For Republicans in Mass., a feeling of out and down
By Brian C. Mooney, Globe Staff | November 8, 2006

That thud last night was the sound of the Republican Party hitting bottom in Massachusetts.

With the end of the GOP's 16-year hold on the offices of governor and lieutenant governor, Bay State Democrats in 2007 will enjoy a political monopoly unequaled by either party in any state in the country.

In January, Democrats will hold all six statewide constitutional offices, all 12 seats in Congress, roughly 7-to-1 majorities in both chambers of the state Legislature, and all eight seats on the Governor's Council. With returns still incomplete late last night, Republicans were losing one net state Senate seat, which would drop the GOP to an all-time low of five seats in the 40-member upper chamber, and in close fights for several House seats. The highest ranking Republican officeholders in the state will be a smattering of district attorneys and county sheriffs.

The party's slide has been so precipitous that Republicans yesterday did not contest 130 of 200 legislative seats, fielded a challenger in only three of 10 congressional districts, and put up fewer candidates for statewide office (three) than the Green-Rainbow Party (four).

Hey, anybody remember a certain POS MAss Gov who went to the RNC hate-fest in NYC in '04 and laughed about those band-aids with the purple hearts on them? Who's laughing now Willard?
