http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2961418For an overwhelming majority of the posters, Kerry is their top-ranked candidate with a realistic chance of running and winning. So why don't people realize that he is THE CHOICE to set things right?? I hope the Presidential primary debates make the evidence clear.

1. Sam Brownback came up #1 for me. |
|
JUST KIDDING.
Actually it was Russ Feingold followed by JK. Hmmmmmmmm. I don't agree with myself but that's okay.

2. OMG, I came up with Kucinich first, than JK. |
|
Go figure. I wouldn't have thought he even came close to my opinions. Although, my real vote would go to Jk.

8. No surprise to me - Kucinich and Kerry have always been my favorite pols |
|
as DK was my first campaign back when I was a schoolgirl. He's the reason I'm an anti-corruption hawk. When he was mayor he had entire corporate establishment against him, but he stood firm. That's why I tuned in to Kerry's amazing efforts in DC.

11. I had Kerry first (100%) and Kucinich second (97%) |
|
What shocked me was that Biden was third. :wow:

3. I just took that poll--and I agree, VERY interesting results! |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 08:11 PM by StoryTeller
Here was mine:
(100%) 1: Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D) Information (99%) 2: Sen. Russ Feingold (D) Information (92%) 3: Sen. John Kerry (D) Information (89%) 4: Sen. Joseph Biden (D) Information (81%) 5: Ex-Gen. Wesley Clark (D) Information (74%) 6: Ex-Sen. John Edwards (D) Information (74%) 7: Ex-VP Al Gore (D) Information (74%) 8: Sen. Christopher Dodd (D) Information (64%) 9: Sen. Hillary Clinton (D) Information (62%) 10: Gov. Tom Vilsack (D) Information
I think what dropped my JK percentage is that they have him listed as "hawkish" and supportive of premptive action, which I'm not sure is entirely accurate. But those were the only two things I could see that dropped my percentage for him. Judging from the percentages for him on most of the other posters' results, I imagine that's what brought him down there, too, for other people. That, to me, is a flaw in the way the poll was constructed, and not actually representative of Kerry himself.
The other thing that would bring down his scores for some people are the last couple of questions about whether the candidate should be in congress and whether the candidate should have previously run for president.
But yeah--he's right there at the top of almost everyone's lists. And I'm sure they see that, even though few are commenting on it. Very interesting...

4. Here are my results, fairly accurate for the two first ones. |

I was surprised to see Clark so close and Biden and Gore at the same level. For the rest, no big surprise.

Hillary Clinton (D) Information (74%) 10: Gov. Tom Vilsack (D) Information (63%) 11: Gov. Bill Richardson (D) Information (63%) 12: Sen. Evan Bayh (D) Information

7. This doesn't prove anything, I'm afraid |
|
People will go with their gut. Why do we have to keep telling the die-hard "I'm liberaler than you" types that Kerry is a real liberal? The facts are on our side, after all. The reason is that people just form go by gut reaction. If someone thinks that Clark is the most like them, that's that. It will be hard to change their view no matter how much evidence we or anyone else confronts them with, or any online quiz might demonstrate.
Another factor is the ill-defined "electability" issue. That may work for or against a candidate based on any number of factors. There are a lot of people here who say they like Kerry, but won't vote for him in the primary because they are convinced he will lose the general election. That's another gut feeling.
Long story short, I'm afraid thinking with your gut isn't just for Colbert.

Suprising that Gore, (who is my second choice and a new DU favorite) is ranked so low.

I think they have several of these wrong though. I think it's tilted away from Kerry's position on the war.
I would never vote for Kucinich for anything. I am not overly fond of the guy,

14. I would only support these Sens if they ran |
|
They are the only ones who voted for both the Kerry-Feingold Iraq Withdrawal Amendment and against the Military Commissions Bill (That allowed torture and did away with Habeas Corpus.)
Akaka (D-HI) Boxer (D-CA) Durbin (D-IL) Feingold (D-WI) Harkin (D-IA) Inouye (D-HI) Jeffords (I-VT) Kennedy (D-MA) Kerry (D-MA) Leahy (D-VT)
Who in that list is really running?
