1. But are all the crazies going to show up? |
|
Those weirdo "Free Palestine" anti-globalization people seem to wreck every protest. They dilute the message. The only message should be "bring our troops home". I know that perhaps I am coming across with a little too much suburban sensibility, but I really think these cottage industry lefty organizations have destroyed the idea of a real mainstream American protest against this immoral war. Just wondering what you think about that.

I will not be with them.
I would hope that the Veterans of this war show up. That is who needs to come.

3. Some have tried to address that |
|
Watching the organizing of the marches over the past few years, some groups have tried to address that. ANSWER used to be the group that got the permits, so all those far left speakers would be included at rallies. People began to see that they would be the ones that ended up on CSpan, while sometimes the actual central piece of the rally was missed. So peace groups began getting the permits themselves more often, although not all the time. If you're thinking of going, you might ask the organizers about who got the permit and who is scheduled to speak. They can't stop the other groups from showing up, but there's a difference between that and having them on the platform.

4. I went to one in DC in September, 2005 |
|
It was a joint ANSWER/UFPJ march. And it was the ANSWER folks who were all over the lefty-freeper map. The UFPJ wanted it to be an anti-war march, and ANSWER people were talking about every other subject under the sun. After that, UFPJ said they'd never do another joint venture with ANSWER again, because they hijacked the agenda big-time.
