Need a little JK research from 2000.

A fellow DUer needs a newsstory or some other confirmation on how JK stuck up for McCain when he was being attacked on his Vietnam days by the Rove smear machine during the GOP primaries.

1. I don't know

I actually don't remember anyone sticking up for McCain. The attack seemed to me to be more subtle than the one against Kerry. The hot head, off balance, stuff came out of Arizona, his own colleagues I think. I don't know what good a liberal Democrat would have done him. But maybe there's a statement out there somewhere.

Anyway, this is kind of interesting reading, especially the closing sentence.

2. Here's one that details

both th every very early Kerry smears (on his anti-war history) and dismisses them. It also details the McCain and Kerry smears from the POW/MIA thing. Kerry apparently wrote that the smearer was a "stupid ass" (I guess he wasn't mincing words)
