Just found this great defense of John Kerry against RW smears
http://www.sitnews.us/1106Viewpoints/110706_robert_freedland.html

It's titled "Why John Kerry Still Matters". The writer picks apart an entire column by Michael Reagan, and calmly debunks every point. He even defends Sen. Durbin, too. I think this is a great comprehensive defense, and we should hold onto it.

Kerry, at least, owns up to his mistakes

First published: Sunday, November 19, 2006

Was it really necessary to run James P. Pinkerton's Nov. 6 extended slander of John Kerry? He's just repeating the same lie the GOP has been putting out for the past 30 years.

John Kerry does not hate the troops; his problem is and always has been with failed leadership that misuses them. He's attacked for daring to say so.

If Pinkerton wants to make an issue of elitism, he'd do a better job if he didn't come across like a petulant third-grader.

The only thing Kerry has to apologize for is muffing an attempt to speak the truth about the administration. He admitted he made a mistake, and he apologized -- two things George Bush and right-wingers like Pinkerton are incapable of doing.

5. That is a wonderful explaination of what Kerry has tried to express since
Vietnam, failed leadership that misuses the troops.
