Take a step back from the pre-primary wars to witness what we're up against
Edited on Sun Nov-19-06 05:01 PM by beachmom
This weekend, I went on a couple of threads concerning Barack Obama, pointing out a few of his flaws, and why I didn't think it was the right time for him to run. However, I still like him, I'm just not happy about him getting into the race this fast. Anyway, I was directed to Town Hall (barf) to read something about McCain today, and I noticed this article about Obama and his upcoming visit to Warren's megachurch in December. I tell you, this is extremely scary reading, and it makes me immediately want to defend Obama with as much passion and vigor as I ever would for Kerry. An article like this makes me realize what we are up against. We must never let our guard down to these people -- Andrew Sullivan calls them Christianists. I think that is too kind -- these people might feel more comfortable in Iran or with the Taliban I swear:

Why is Obama's Evil in Rick Warren's Pulpit?
By Kevin McCullough
Sunday, November 19, 2006

Rick Warren, the best selling author of The Purpose Driven Life and senior teaching pastor at Saddleback Church in California, has invited Barack Obama to speak to the congregation of the faithful on December 1, 2006. In doing so he has joined himself with one of the smoothest politicians of our times, and also one whose wickedness in worldview contradicts nearly every tenant of the Christian faith that Warren professes.

So the question is, "why?"

Why would Warren marry the moral equivalency of his pulpit - a sacred place of honor in evangelical tradition - to the inhumane, sick, and sinister evil that Obama has worked for as a legislator?

According to press reports, it is because of a mutual respect that each feels towards the other over the AIDS/HIV pandemic on the African continent. That rationale however is not only dishonest, but not even logical given the two distinct positions that the men come to on the matter. Because of this supposed shared concern, Warren is ready to turn over the spiritual mantle to a man who represents the views of Satan at worst or progressive anti-God liberals at best in most of his public positions on the greatest moral tests of our time.

read on if you can stomach it . . .

1. In part 3, they just go all out racist:

It's kind of like this author puts it, "All Men Are Created Equal - EXCEPT TO LIBERALS." (And particularly if you are a 'black liberal' raised by your white mommy in Hawaii.)

And in the 4th part, they go after Obama's wife.

Edit: I'm going to remove the hyper links, so you have to copy and paste.

2. yeah that's sick
One thing I admire about Senator Obama is how he talks openly and honestly about religion. It's so sad to see the religous right (well some ...obviously not Warren) condem him all the same. What this means to me is that these people ("Christianists") don't really care about religion or about people .... what they care about is their political power and they continue to do the dirty work for the Republican Party.
