Kerry chips in $5,000 for VFW post
"Kerry is a good man," said Feller, 79, a veteran who isn't shy about saying the Massachusetts senator is his favorite politician. "Nobody else in politics has come forward to help us out, and believe me, we need help."

Feller is a member of the Beaverdale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9127 in Des Moines. It's based in a building that sustained serious fire damage last month, and the members are worried about the fact that insurance won't cover the amount of the loss. It's an important place to the men and women of the post, and they asked Iowa's veterans to do what they could to get the place up and running again.

Then came Monday's mail with a nice letter and a $5,000 check signed by Kerry.

3. Makes me feel good for donating to his PAC
It's money well spent, IMO, because it's always used for good causes. Imagine if you were a Hillary supporter and found out how much money was blown on frivolous stuff like valet parking and flowers? I guess it was also used for a database (to be fair), but I just don't see JK's PAC wasting money on that sort of thing.

Nice article.

4. What a great story.
It's a damn shame that JK's acts of kindness (like this) go unreported by the MSM, while a botched line in a speech gets two months' worth of coverage.

This makes article me feel good.

7. Wonderful story.
It's too bad they had to speculate on motive instead of just enjoy the outreach from one veteran to others, but a nice story.

8. He is going to get these kinds of comments. People are going to
speculate on his motives, but he has a great record on veteran's issues that can be used in his defense. I wrote a nice e-mail to the man who wrote the piece and mentioned how Senator kerry has always had great concern for the safety of our troops and has an excellent voting record in support of veteran's issues. I also mentioned that my opinion was that he would have sent the donation no whether the matter of the flubbed joke had come up or not.

9. yup, anytime someone brings up motive just bring up his record
going back to days when he was still a soldier himself. not just on veterans issues but so many other things. he has been fighting for people his entire life. he really gets the issues.

one thing that many people don't know is that when Kerry was protesting the war in Vietnam he was also fighting for Veteran's benefits .
