Newsweek - "How Iraq will affect 2008" - Kerry NOT mentioned
I am livid. This lying by omission bullshit HAS to stop. Now.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15790605/site/newsweek/

Guess who the top two candidates mentioned are?

Leave a comment at the bottom of the article here, and also be sure to email a letter to the editor:

or snail mail:

Newsweek
P.O. Box 2120, Radio City Station
New York, NY 10101-2280

Two weeks ago their nasty gossipy "CW" meter gave Kerry a "down arrow," and informed him to "just shut up."

Let them know what you think ahout their whore reporting.

1. It is obvious they are trying to marginalize him and ignore him, like
they tried to do right after the 04 election. If I didn't know better, (and maybe I don't) I would swear this was a joint effort on the part of the media, the Repubs and some of the Democratic wing of our party to get him out of the way. It appears no matter what he said, they would have jumped at it and used it as an excuse to do him in. He has to make his way back up now. The poll numbers that just came out give these creeps something to run with and an excuse to ignore him and say he is done. The good news is a lot can happen in two years and I can not think of anything else as harsh as this that they could throw at him. Right now though, I resent them even mentioning the likes of Edwards, Obama and Clinton as being anywhere equal in experience and having the foreign policy and military credentials Kerry does. Hell will freeze over before I would trust our foreign policy to any of these three.

Did they mention Bahy? Actually, this article appears to be nothing but a front runner and puff piece with Biden thrown in because he gives it all a little credibility due to his new chairmanship status. Damn, I wish Kerry chaired that committee.

2. Another silly piece

that lists the candidates' credentials, but here is what it says about Kerry:

- John Kerry, 62 - The 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, criticized this fall for a fumbled joke about Bush that was taken as criticism of American troops in Iraq.

link

I wrote to the writer and called him on beating this attempted smear to death. I also suggested that he use Kerry's position as chairman of the Small Business Committee and his plan for withdrawing from Iraq.

3. good find
I wont be able to respond until tomorrow. Will definitely let them know what I think. It is ironic because I was interviewed by a Newsweek reporter at the NH Jefferson-Jackson Dinner (she was very nice) and she was most interested in Sen Kerry as a presidential candidate.

4. I an odd way, I find this stuff reassuring.
The more they marginalize him, the more under-the-radar he can fly.

Like that wonderful letter GV posted from the Des Moines paper yesterday. People, most of them, pay no attention to the pundits. The pundits may influence who is mentioned in the early polls, but by the time people get around to actually voting, the issues will be different, and the view most people have of the candidates (those who are actually running at that point in time) - will also be different.

I have a feeling the news will not be good for HRC. I don't know who will be up at that point, but I don't think she will wear well. Craig Crawford was on c-span this morning talking about presidential politics, and he had some interesting things to say. For the most part, he left his snark at home and was quite intelligent. I didn't hear him mention Kerry at all (but I only watched for a short while), but he's not even sure HRC will run. He thinks her up close and personal retail politics suck.

I wonder how much she's counting on benefiting from Bill on the retail level?

5. Excellent point!
The turkey ratings were sheer idiocy. I can imagine that many people (whether they support Kerry or not) who saw these stories and concluded that the writers were idiots!

6. She is good in the Senate, you know. If she went for majority
leader I would be okay with that. I think she would do a better job than Harry Reid. True, she's too centrist for me, but I think she actually has the chops to play parliamentary games, which are very necessary. But as president? No, she's backstabbed too many times and continues to support this war. I just don't trust her for that. And she is not a good one for the "bully pulpit". I think Kerry would be a great role model for Americans with his decency and honesty.

But you know -- I agree that him being under the radar for a while is a good thing. He needed to do that Fox thing, and put it out there, for which he was flogged by many. But now that it's said and done, he can get to work, and announce when he is ready. Being labeled the ultimate underdog has its advantages -- as I said, the Kerry haters on dKos have laid off of him lately. I think we can get some traction there on the issues, especially Net Neutrality and the corporate media.
