At least, most people (47 to 43%) think such rankings don't matter when it comes to determining who can win. And, at least, "likability" is rated LAST in terms of what's the most important character for a politician Honesty (60%) is first; intelligence (30%) is second; "other" (5%) is third, ahead of "likability", which brings up the rear at 4%.
that said, I'm absolutely befuddled about these ratings. I've ALWAYS thought W. was a horrible person, totally unlikeable. I've ALWAYS thought Kerry was likeable, and the more I know about him, and his family, the stronger my feelings. (Just think about the parallel talks by Kerry's daughters and Bush's daughters at their respective 2004 conventions. NO doubt who'd I have chosen between the two for a father. NO doubt about who had the higher-quality daughters, and NO doubt about how their parentage affected the respective daughters). That stupid question about who you'd rather have a beer with: for me, it's Kerry, hands down!!
Anyway, please do VOTE!

My closest neighbor wna friend is a Republican. A few weeks after the election, she called me to suggest, if I hadn't seen it, to catch the repeat of the Larry King show with Kerry's daughters. I had a Kerry sign so she knew I was for him. She said that she had seen them at the convetion and was extremely impressed at how nice, gracious and poised they were. She also said the fact the values they expressed speaking of either their own lives or their father refected very well on him - especially as they were similar to what he said his values were. She voted for Bush - for economic reasons and because Kerry was too liberal - but said that the girls made her feel that the country would have a good man as President if he were elected. (Her mom - also a Republican - voted for Kerry because Bush's daughters were brats and his weren't.)
Beyond nice, if neither were President;
-Whose help would you want in an emergency? -Who would you trust to care for a small child? -Who do you think a teen in trouble, could or should turn to for advice? -Who has the wife it would be far more fun to talk to? -If your dog ran away, which house would you prefer it went to? -Who would you rather have speak to your kid's class on civics, ethics, government ....?
I seriously don't think there's any question to any of these.

I always thought the question was 'in an emergency, who would you toss the keys to the house and your credit card to, and trust not to hit on you/your wife or beat your kids.' John Kerry - no doubt in my mind.

3. I voted for Condi as most disliked |
|
Bush is way out of his depth, but Condi ought to now better than to take some of the positions she does.

Nothing is more repulsive to me than someone who tries to play both sides and have it both ways like McCain does. The man has demonstrated time and again that he utterly lacks any semblance of principles. At least Condi BELIEVES in her psychotic worldview - at least, it seems she does. McCain believes in nothing and would take any position to ingratiate himself to whoever's votes he was trying to swindle.

7. Which neocon do you like least? is a pretty hard question to answer |
|
I respect your reasoning, though. We're all doing the best we can :)

8. Yeah they're all evil in their own special way |
|
In some ways Bush is the most evil because he is a vindictive, petty, vicious person who would destroy the entire country to satisfy his Oedipus complex.
Then there are the people like Condi, the true believers in evil neocon philosophy, who know exactly what they're doing and why.
Then there are the people like John McCain, who is willing to say and do anything if he thinks it improves his gambit to acquire power.
It just really depends on which kind of evil you hate the most - not a choice I relish making.
