Markos up to his old tricks again
His 2008 "analysis." Mentioned, in order: Hillary, Obama, Biden, Edwards, Richardson, Bayh, Vilsack, Gore.

Chris Dodd is not a serious candidate, so I'll count this as an oversight on Kos's part. But what about Clark, and, of course, Kerry?

There is no way that this wasn't a deliberate snub, since Kerry will have been on TV four times in the past two days. Who does Markos think he's fooling anyway?

:nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

1. Markos is just another pundit. That is all.
I do not think that there is anything else there.

Markos has always wanted to be part of the establishment. He is imitating them. I do not think there is a lot more there. (Of course, that he does not like Kerry does not help, but his old self would have taken a snipe after Kerry. Right now, he is just ignoring him. Rather a progress for him, I think).

2. That's what I was thinking, too, Mass.

He could have said something nasty like all the other pundits said about Kerry (he did mention Kerry being from a heavily Democratic state, btw), so I was relieved that he didn't let his hate spew. You know, toward the end of '06, I noticed a lot more dissent against Markos on dailykos. I don't think he'll be a kingmaker. As long as he lets us play there (which he will), I'm not sweating him.

Edited to add: since Kerry is the chairman for Net Neutrality, there will inevitably be good publicity about him on dailykos. And Markos may end up even meeting him at some point, being an owner of the largest political blog in the country. So I'll bide my time with him.

4. Ignoring him is meant as a snub.
I think Markos's fame is fading as more people seem to seek out A. Huffington for commentary. Not that she is a friend of Kerry, but she seem to have more of a grip on the real issues and attracts bigger names to her blog on a regular basis.

Maybe I should go over and remind him he left someone off of his list.

5. In other news, I witnessed this exchange on Hardball
last night (with David Shuster hosting it's like an actual news program).

SHUSTER: And, Steve, on the Democratic side, you have got the governor of Iowa. Former Governor Vilsack is launching his 2008 bid tomorrow. Most Americans have never heard of this guy.

MCMAHON: Right.

SHUSTER: Does he have any chance when you are talking about Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, John Kerry?

MCMAHON: Well, I would just say two words: Howard Dean. And, you know, Howard Dean was a governor from a small state, he wasn‘t very well known and rose to prominence and was the frontrunner for along time in that Democratic contest a couple of years ago.

It didn‘t work out for him but America likes governors. They are not always fond of senators and Washington insiders, and so I think he‘s going to have a shot. There‘s a great, strong talented field, including Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and all the others that you mentioned, but I think Tom Vilsack is going to do pretty well.

So it seems not everyone thinks he's a goner...
