Good luck in Iowa tomorrow!
I wish the best to all our good Democratic candidates running in Iowa tomorrow. This has been a good race and I think one that clarified a lot of issues.

We sometimes get caught up in the petty minutia of the primaries. It's easy to forget that we are on the same team in trying to get better health care for our people, meet the challenges of global climate change, and put our country on the road to energy independence. I congratulate each person who has worked hard for their candidate and I hope we can work together in the future on the issues that we all care about so much.

Best of luck to all!

1. I remember reading that the Edwards had "sharp elbows" in the 2004 primaries
but this sure looks like a very slick dirty trick the day before the caucus.

2. I hate the primaries. IT's all a game to them. And it's about their own power and ambitions.

I honestly hate watching them just beat each other up. I don't feel involved in the process.

Basically, I've considered myself to be a 'team player' and the primaries is about punching your own teamate hardest! In a sense, the general election should be about helping the whole team--meaning helping people--but even that gets lost in partisan roles and smears. I'm tired of 'the survivor' mentality of any politics. I'm tired of the corruption, the lobbyists, the corporatists, and the liars.

I honestly do not feel attached to any of these people and really am tired of their spin.

I believe most voters are like me. Tired of it. Tired of the lies. And tired of waiting for people to actually create laws that help us and stop hurting us. We welcomed the new year with housing prices down in double digits (%tage-wise), stock market and mutual funds (ira's and retirement accounts) down in double digits, oil cost in triple digits now, and so on...

So tell me?

While they backstab and claw and fight their way to their rock-star title, WHERE are our elected officials RIGHT here and now?

5. and I'm sick of the media circus
The cable news channels have been hyping this all week and I've just about had it. Today they are up to fever-pitch! I think I'll be sticking to C-span tonight.

On a personal level, I'm so proud: my daughter is going to participate in the caucus! As some of you know, she is working as an intern in Ames, IA just for this school year, and has decided to go. What a great experience, and how lucky that she is there during an election year. I think she's for Obama--she was last I heard anyway.

6. Congratulations to her!
For getting involved and taking the time out to participate in the caucuses.

Hey, it ain't democracy unless We the People show up. (I love the people who show up, despite the 10 degree temps, the confusion and the late hour. )

7. if Kerry had run and lost today
i would be in a horrible depressive state. we will never know and while i lean towards saying he probably made the right decision not to run, i still feel that if we could go back and he could run i might be all up for it. Kerry had some of the best campaign moments that i had not seen with any of the candidates this time around. but he was also up against so much that would may have been distracted dealing with the constant negative stuff.

in any case i'm happy to celebrate the candidate i did pick, Barack Obama. i support him for many of the reasons i like JK. i think both are deep thinkers and they appeal to the good in people.

8. Well if the theme was change with the experience to make it happen, Senator Kerry would have done
well. I always thought 2008 was too soon for him to try again, although I would have supported his run, but I hope he does give it another shot.
I am glad you found your candidate for 08. As for me, I will remain uncommitted.

been the same enthusiasm as 04 or like Obama got tonight? Though, it's one victory, my mom thought Obama's victory showed people that they are sick of the same ole, same ole DC politics/politicians and voting for "two white guys" in every election.

11. There is no way to know and no reasons to engage in baseless speculation.
Others will try, but we do not need to. Also, it is not clear that Obama would have won that well with Kerry in the race. It is not only here that a good portion of his supporters are going to Obama. It was also in Iowa, according to entrance polls. So, beware of wild supposition.

For those of us who supported Obama, let us rejoice and hope that the need for change was recognized in Iowa. For the other ones, let me just say it is a race we should be proud of because all candidates kept the high road by avoiding negative attacks, and that it was a really close road for the three top ones. And I feel sorry for Dodd and Biden who got a short stick in the media and were never able to make their argument.
