Sen Kerry's comments on Pres Bush's "Nazi Appeasers" speech to Israeli Knesset

Kerry Statement on Bush Remarks from the Knesset

WAHSINGTON, DC – Senator John Kerry made the following statement today, in response to President Bush’s partisan attacks from Israel’s Knesset.

“President Bush is still playing the disgusting and dangerous political game Karl Rove perfected which is insulting to every American and disrespectful to our ally Israel.

“George Bush should be making Israel secure, not slandering Barack Obama from the Knesset. If George Bush believes engagement with Iran is appeasement, the first thing he should do when he comes home is demand the resignation of his own Cabinet. Secretary Gates and Secretary Rice have both favored negotiations with Iran.

“The bottom line is that George Bush's policies have made America less safe. The Middle East is more unstable than it's been in decades. Al Qaeda is reconstituted, Israel is more threatened, Hamas controls Gaza, Hezbollah threatens to take over Lebanon, Iran is stronger and Iraq is in chaos. America needs – and Israel deserves – presidential leadership that actually makes us safer and stronger.”

Ah, any part of that not clear?

1. Bush should go back to shutting up and hiding. Between his
"I gave up golf" as a sacrifice for the troops, and now this, it is just disgusting. Jan. 20th can't come soon enough.

4. Please post this in GD P and add Tay's statement.
That would make for a kick ass thread and advise Dems that THIS is a great example of how Dems defend our nominee - smartly.

5. Just watched it. He was great. Also, there is a diary in general
on the subject -- TOTAL unity from Democrats. Hmmm ... where is Hillary? Nothing on her website.

Anyway, check out this diary:

I asked Steven R to add the Kerry video, and he did. :) I will give Joe Biden the award for most direct response.

10. there was a really great moment on Hardball just now
Chris Matthews catching a moronic right-wing talk show host from LA, Kevin James, demonstrating that James had not a clue what Chamberlin did before WWII, and that James did not know what "appeasement" meant. Matthews called James a "blank slate" in terms of his total ignorance of history. :rofl:It was about 20-25 minutes into the show. And it should not be missed. Just great.

I mean, this is my problem with idiot Republicans -- they don't know their freaking history!!!! That talk show host represents Republican yahoos across the country. They are just ignorant and stupid. Really.

12. Good grief.
I just watched the clip. Why on EARTH is anyone that STUPID allowed on the broadcast airwaves???? I mean, yes, there is "free speech," but that fool is paid a salary to discuss politics. I'm not even sure he could carry on a conversation about dinner at MacDonald's.

I have been wondering about all these WW II analogies used by the Right for some time. When I heard the Neville Chamberlain comment today, I said to my husband, "Why do I think most people under about age 50 will have NO CLUE what is being said?"

And if Kevie-boy didn't prove me right!! :grr:

13. he isn't that different from most wingnuts on tv, radio etc, only difference
is that Matthews called him out on his ignorance. usually the hosts just let the wingnuts yap on with their bs.

but Matthews just called it out as it is. it's not something that deserves to be respected.

i did enjoy watching it very much.
