Photos of JK's visit to the Gaza strip
http://www.boston.com/news/world/gallery/2_19_09_kerry_in_gaza/

I see this part of the trip has been covered by the Globe and by CNN. It's reported he accepted a letter from Hamas to Obama, but I'm not sure that's confirmed.

Some video here:

1. Thanks for posting.
This is really an interesting trip. Things aren't going to change overnight, but you can sense the difference now that Bush is out of the picture.

2. Nice photos and coverage. The photo of the Kerrys and Livnii on the hill is really nice
It is too bad that even though she won more votes, there weren't enough third parties on the left to form a government.

The BBC coverage is great - under the audio book, there is a clickable link to "more from BBC world service" There is 12 minutes of coverage - the Congressman interviewed did a nice job, and Martin Indik (sp?) a former US ambassador to Israel explained that Congress is independent.

Thanks for the links

3. Fox News is trying to make an issue of the letter
with Elliot Abrams - who needed a pardon from Bush 1 because he broke the law lying to Kerry's committee while under oath - not to mention everything done with the Contras - is even quoted arguing that this stepped over a line. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/02/20/kerry-acting-mailman-hamas/

4. Ah, this seems pretty light stuff
They are upset about a letter? That is the least part of the visit and Fox News focuses on that?

No wonder they are losing viewers and the public.

Tempest in a teapot.

5. I quite agree
They look like idiots. Here is the Reuters article. Kerry gave the letter to the Consulate in Israel.

It is not negotiating for the US state department to read a letter - you would want them to. We need Hamas to change its position.
