1. It is pathetic isn't it. When a vote starts I'll leave it on C-span 2 and |
|
look for him. I hate it when he runs in and votes and runs out.
I think he might be in Boston today.
Are they having any votes today? I read somewhere that they would vote on a Schumer Amendment to the Bankruptcy Bill on Monday or Tuesday. I also read he is going to a party in Boston tonight so

went into the kitchen to start dinner, turned on c-span2, and there he was, walking in! It was cool. I love the way they all meander around in the chamber.

He walked in, hung around the table for awhile, looked at his watch, went behind the table, voted and left.

9. It's interesting trying to see who talks to whom |
|
(although I can't recognize most of them, unless I see them vote and they say the name.) Does anyone know how they vote - I see they have their hand up but are there different gestures for yes and no? My eyes or the resolution of the TV aren't good enough to tell.
Kerry really stands out.

I spotted him way across the chamber, talking to Biden I think. I wasn't even sure it was him, but then he walked towards the camera and I could see it was. He's so tall. slim, and stands so straight.
Plus there aren't that many full heads of hair in the Senate! ;-)

|
I sure didn't do stuff like that before.

15. "Political Groupies" was a Monty Python sketch. |
|
The Pythons dressed in drag as hippie girls who said things like: "I just love lobbying!" "And the debates!" "I could really go for a minister!"
Hmmm...sounds like us!

Change minister to the American equivalent and it is does sound like us. I loved Monty Python and was thrilled when two of my kids started watching some of those videos and the Rocky and Bullwinkle ones too.

The way I think it goes, is that the one or two people at the top desk are calling out names. Each senator walks up and gives a verbal vote, which is written down, and then later announced.

2. I asked them in an e-mail this very question |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 01:09 PM by TayTay
To: viewer@c-span.org Subject: Question about programming
Has C-Span been invited to cover this event?
Democratic Senators are hitting the road to make their own Social Security arguments, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid's office announced yesterday.
As we reported in yesterday's Note, the first event is a 10:00 am ET barnburner on Friday, with Sens. Clinton, Schumer, Reid, Durbin, Dorgan, and Kerry at Pace University in New York City. At 2:00 pm ET that day, Sens.
Reid, Durbin, and Dorgan join Gov. Ed Rendell and Reps. Chaka Fattah, Bob Brady, and Allyson Schwartz at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia.
Thank you. I would watch either of these events if C-Span is televising them.
They sent me an e-mail today:
we are covering their session in NYC today and will air tonight
EDIT: I love C-Span

4. If you need a JK fix, you can go to Cspan.org |
|
They have the Jackie Robinson award ceremony now in the archives. See the homepage, look under Video Library, and then click on "Congress". You'll see it on the list. Granted it is nicer on a tv screen, but you'll be able to watch his great tribute to Robinson. It's about 14 minutes into the ceremony, and it lasts 6-7 min. or so. :)
