3. Nice and loose too!
And positive. It's so, so, so great to see Dems stand up whooping and cheering for FOR something. The recent excessive negativity in these forums and in Dems as a whole has brought my spirits down somewhat. A few more wonderfully positive things like this and I will start to perk up a bit. (Ah, yes, this is me depressed. What do yo mean you didn't notice? Sigh! Gotta work on that.)

9. Ahm, well, see a while back in Dec
Edited on Sun Mar-06-05 12:23 PM by TayTay
when it wasn't really the busy political season, we had time to speculate about all sort of things. And we discovered that there are all kind of fans of Senator Kerry. (And other pols, but this is the JK forum.)

During one of those harmless but fun threads I invented the term LLL to describe some of the posters who were writing rather ardent posts of admiration that I hadn't quite heard before:

Libidinous Liberal Lasses Love Looking Longingly at Lanky Leaders.

(But LLLLLLLL is too, too much. So, it became LLL for short. Libidinous because I figured it was a word that freepers wouldn't understand.) And, we needed alliteration that day. No reason, it just occurred to me that we needed alliteration that day. So I did alliteration.

All wonk and no play make LLL very boring women indeed. We had a tremendous spike in traffic in those days. Then Skinner clamped down on explicit postings, so we have been behaving ourselves, more or less, give or take, since then. But it has also become something of a signature expression for this group. (Well, we are Dems. And it can be ignored.)

When I first posted here, I wouldn't even put up floaty hearts. Well, that changed, because it was just too much fun.

EDIT: And it's an organic part of the conversation: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=273x17173#17192

10. Thanks
I guess there are times I can count myself among the LLL crowd. I definitely see his appeal in that area. Although JK has been my Senator for most of my adult life, and I've been voting for him all that time, I never noticed him that much before the presidential campaign. But the more I found out about the man, the more I admired him, and the more I supported his campaign.

Edited on Sun Mar-06-05 12:39 PM by TayTay
I would never, ever had said some things I have said without this group. It was not a part of the conversation I had with people in MA about Kerry. (Except for those conversations about his time before he got married, but I digress.)

We have been desperately trying to come up with an LLL thread for the guys who check in here, but I'm not sure we succeeded. And we probably never will. After all this is the JK forum. But we try to accommodate all points of view, so we will keep trying. At any rate, I think some of the guys who check in here are amused by the LLL threads. They are kind of funny.

EDIT: Oh and I forgot this, LLL threads tend to have our favorite little devil's grin embedded in them  That is also a signature comment in the group that marks the time when the thoughts have just deviated from politics to something else.

56. It's a gift.
Seriously, when I first started posting here I had no idea what to make of the ardent admirers. (Precursors to the LLL.) As we all now know, I have had conversations with women who dated JK in his single years and those types of stories were well known here (and discussed publicly in the MA newspapers.) Those stories bothered me 0% because the guy was single (and I just assumed that single people occasionally date. LOL!)

However, I never engaged in those discussions using sentences that had the 'I' pronoun in them. It just never occurred to wonky old me. I can, ad nauseum, discuss policy and issues and political stands, as everyone here knows. I had, and to some extent still have, trouble talking about personal non-political stuff. (Maybe that's my own New England Reserve poking through, I don't know.) So, I think the LLL threads are good for me. There is nothing wrong with seeing the human being beneath the wonk. (Hmmm, who am I talking about here, someone else or me. I don't know.) And seeing the human being can mean seeing all of them. (Mmmmmm, yummy.) So, I think this has been a good thing.

And it is good for this group. Very good for this group. All wonk and no play means nobody shows up for discussions. I love the spiciness factor here and the fact that you never know where it is going to show up. This makes talking to people here a fun thing. And it keeps this group loose, fun, amicable and able to debate difficult stuff without people getting their feelings hurt or huffing off vowing never to return. (Yup, LLL is a factor in keeping the group loose. I love that.)
