Taking a lesson from John Kerry about the election
Since we've had few direct statements about how the election has affected him personally, maybe as Kerrycrats we can speculate.

I personally think that a lot of people on DU are taking it far worse than Kerry is himself. Like life is not worth living anymore. Like evil will always triumph, etc. People are angry, sad, and frightened. I think it has to do with their sense of powerlessness. Also the wish to get some sort of results from all they put into the campaign.

From that local interview that he did in Boston right after Nov.2, it doesn't seem like JK is blaming himself, and doesn't look like he feels discouraged. I think he remains concerned about the future of this country, and what BushCo is doing to it, and is determined to keep on fighting. He doesn't seem to be the type to wallow in defeat. As he did during the campaign, he's keeping his emotions about it under wraps. He's working on the election fraud issue, and on his job as Senator. He's not taking back anything he said or stood for during the campaign.

What I need to do now is take a lesson from him, stop grieving over what might have been, and try to do more to make a positive impact on the world. Sigh.

1. I wept bitterly right after the election
but I'm fine now. I think that there are a lot of problems that still need to be addressed and that we can't give up now because things will never get better if we do that.

2. It's the ones who say we'll never have a legit election again that get me
Gloom and doom.

I think we need to get just alittle bit farther away from 9/11. And I think that with the Repubs poised to have a rebellion in their own party, and with the incompetency of the current administration, buyer's remorse will set in soon if it hasn't already.

We have to be ready to fight for Soc. Sec. and health care and choice and everything else. Time to watch the "man in exile" vid again.

Is it just me, or is John Kerry the only Dem at the moment talking about fighting these people. Well, maybe Dean too. And there is the watchdog committee that some Dems are talking of forming.

Kerry is a tough cookie. I think he's ready to keep fighting. But some people are talking as if the world is going to end on Jan 6th. I keep trying to tell them I really, REALLY don't think we're going to suddenly get Pres. Kerry, much as I want it too. This isn't about flipping the election. It's about investigating the fraud and fighting the Bush agenda.

3. Now more than ever, we need to continue to fight the good fight
Now is not the time to point fingers and place blame on each other. Now is the time to unite and stand firm and fight for our principles and values with even greater passion and zeal. For if we give into self-loathing, apathy, and resentment, our adversaries have achieved the ultimate victory. For the day we stop fighting is the day they have won.

Change is inevitable. I as well as 56 million others are deeply saddened that that change did not happen this past November, but it will take place. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but sooner or later we will take back our country.

To quote a line from John Kerry's convention speech, "It is time to look to the next horizon. For America, the hope is there! The sun is rising! Our best days are yet to come!". Have truer words ever been spoken?

4. i think because JK realizes it was never just about himself
it was about what he wanted to do for the people. and it's something he has always done and will continue to do. no matter how sad you might get there are still things we can and should be doing.

5. Thank you!
I was actually very heartened to see him show up to work at the Senate just a few days after Black Tuesday, and start up with all these plans and projects. I know this pissed off so many people who wanted to believe the election fight wasn't over, but it cheered me--because even if the election fight isn't over, it's also not the only important fight going on!

Call me naive and sappy (not that I think you guys would) but my admiration for him actually increased exponentially: that someone who's spent two years of his life chasing a huge dream nonstop, lost it suddenly (after probably believing he was going to win), and within 48 hours is able to pull himself together enough to see the magnitude of the battles ahead and act on them....Just wow. I couldn't have done it. I'd have been in bed with the covers pulled over my head for at least a week (hell, I kinda was anyway...) He helped inspire me to stop whimpering. And I needed it, and I'm grateful to him.

I can't believe people begrudge him a vacation!

6. Call me crazy, call me naive, but the way I look at it is.....

As much as I hate it and anyone who knows me knows I am a #1 supporter of Kerry but election 2004 is over. I hate it to I wish I could feel that it is going to change and my hero will be our president. But that is very very doubtful right now. This man is a maverick, a real fighter, and if there was anyway to change the election he would because he wants to be our president as much as we want him for president. I won't say that I don't keep having hope that a miracle will happen because I do, and I know when it comes to my hero you never say never because he will fool you when you least expect it and that is because he is so damn intelligent that if there is anyway possible of doing something this man will find it. But my gut tells me it is over. So I have been making myself face this reality and it is hard and it hurts, but it has to be done.

One thing I do know about my hero is he is not going to roll over and die for anyone, for any reason, at any time! He is as heart broken and pissed over this election as anyone. He will not give up this fight now, Oh hell no not Kerry what he will do is fight these bastards all the way as hard as he can fight and he won't stop until justice prevails! Now that is the Kerry I know and that is my hero. And you wait and see if I'm not telling you the truth when say before all is said and done my hero will have Chimp and a lot of repukes wishing they never heard the name "KERRY" and you can take that to the bank.

Now what I have realized is how many people truly knew so little about such a great man who will be the greatest president this country has had since John F. Kennedy. I still strongly believe he will be president it's just not now. He has plenty of ships to sink right now and I must say I will get great pleasure in watching him blow holes in all them damn ships and will LMAO as they all sink! I strongly feel he will be running strong in 2008. So what I have been doing to take my mind off all the negativity here at DU is staying away from the other forums as much as possible and staying in here. I have been trying to get Kerry's life history posted so that anything you want to know is all in one place and at the click of a button.

I have a long ways to go on my project but I feel it is well worth my time and effort to teach those who don't know this man or just think they know all about him they truly don't know. Yes, it is a lot of work and takes a lot of time but if it teaches it is well worth it. I also welcome anything put in my post that I might have missed and that you feel should be added. I am open to all suggestions. But as I said I am far from finished because Kerry has done so much, accomplished so many things, and been a part of so many things in his life and career that it is impossible to get it done as quick as I would like. But I will get it done. Now by me doing this it takes my mind off all the bad and to me I feel I am already working on the future. Maybe I will get lucky and one person read what I'm posting and change their mind about John Kerry and even if my work changes one mind it is all worth it.

So while I do my work, I will also keep up and watch my hero go into action and do his work. I will be there to support him or help him in anyway I can anytime he needs me. We will both be fighting for the same reasons to sink those ships, save this country, and get him to his rightful home at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

but i feel let down that you don't believe there is a chance for him in this election. i honestly don't want to hear a peep about Kerry in '08 until January 21st, 2005.

if that talk gets rampant in here before then, i will have to take short leave.

8. OK Sorry
I said in the first paragraph that I won't say I don't have hope of a miracle because I do and that you never say never with Kerry because if anything can be done he will be the one to do. But my gut is telling me it is over.

I think what I'm trying to do is get off the roller coaster ride that keeps going and going. It's not that I have any less faith in my hero. I guess what I want to say the roller coaster ride is starting to get the best of me.

15. I'm with you Faye.....I had to take a break from boards b4...
when they jumped on Kerry. I won't give up for Jan. 20th either. Kerry's been doing lots of things for a while to get his "mandate" that we haven't known about. People are so naive. They think if they don't see it on MSNBC that it isn't happening. Did you read what someone here wrote: The first thing Kerry said he would do as Pres. was work on children's health care insurance. Did you get his email asking us support him on that issue and send him an email? Wasn't that cool? He made us proud at the convention. He was a brave soldier in Vietnam and came back to save his brothers. He has to fight those damn swift boat liars for bush for each of his elections. He's gotta be so heart broken. We sure are. Huh? The man is the first man to beat an imcumbant during a war. The Sox won and the bambino curse was broken. All signs pointed a clear win. I knew he'd win in a landslide and I knew they'd steal it. I knew he'd fight it quietly. I think we gotta as Liberals take this as far as we can, even if it goes to an unpleasant place. What are the alternatives? God, doesn't the thought of a bu$h mandated America in the year 2008 scare the shit out of you???

18. I'm interested--
did you really think they would steal it, before the election? I think most of us were so excited about it and sure he'd win hands-down. I for one didn't want to think of a possibility like that. But I know some must have. Especially the Kerry campaign.

12. thanks for your hard work, a-dem!
I really appreciate it.

As for the rest of your post, I feel the same--I hope for the best but am prepared for the worst, too. But whatever happens, I firmly believe that what John Kerry said is true: "I've got your back!"
I'm gonna be watchin c-span' for signs of that. Whether he's in the Senate or the Oval Office! Those who mis-underestimate Kerry'd better watch out. :)

13. I was trying to console my family on Christmas
They were quite despairing, especially my elderly grandparents, who cannot bear the thought of George Bush fucking up this country. I just tell them that I think Bush and company "misunderestimate" John Kerry at their own peril.

14. You Are Definitely Right About One Thing
And that is way to many people underestimate this man. And I do mean way to many! I can't wait for the Senate to get back to it's normally daily routine because I know we will see a lot of Kerry then and I can't wait. He will be on the Senate floor speaking day 1 and I will bet money on that. It will be great to see and for those of us that missed him it will be that much better. I know what this man is capable of and if anyone can bring Chimp and his cronies down this is damn sure your man for that! I have always watched the senate on a day to day basis hardly ever missing it, but I know what's fixing to go down and I will not miss it for sure now and if I have to leave I always have it recorded. I have to record it everyday for my daughter.

This will be the fight of the century that will be playing out right in your own living. This is going to be the type of fight you would feel like shooting yourself if you missed. I think you will see more people watching the Senate these next four years than what has ever watched. Because once people find out about all the true drama and suspense that will be playing out on the Senate floor on a day to day basis they will start watching and they to will get addicted just as much as we are. And as far as daytime Soap Operas well all I got to say they better find a new time slot or their ratings will fall terribly, because most Americans will be tuning in to the real live soap opera playing out in Washington, D.C. on the Senate floor. LOL the only thing that will be missing is a theme song in the beginning. Wait and see if what I'm telling you isn't true. I personally can't wait to start rolling the film!
