So Clark announced today.
DU should be fun the next few years, eh?

Hell, I support everybody, but this primary stuff isn't cool.

2. Agreed, it seems irresponsible to me
Part of me thinks it's good for candidates to be as prepared as possible, but part of me thinks that announcing candidacy for 2008 will take away from the midterm elections in 2006.

3. I hear he didnt really announce
Edited on Sun Apr-17-05 12:31 PM by JohnKleeb
BTW you hear about the end result of the game last night? :)
But I think youre right, primary wars just aint fun. I'll support anyone snce I am a yellow dog but I will have my preferences, I dont hate or love Clark, he doesnt do anything for me but to each their own. Its my opinion btw that Clark should run for the governorship of Arkansas, he really needs to prove himself to show what he can do in a postion in the government.

4. No, what end result?
I saw the box score of the O's game, with the 5 run 7th. Did something happen at the Sox game?

6. We could always use more southern governors down here
Thankfully, ours is doing a decent job of cleaning up the mess the last repuke governor made.

7. Yep
Arkansas is pretty liberal for a southern state after all. We're enjoying our dem governor here but Tim Kaine, the Lt Governor and Warner's hopeful successor has an uphill battle against AG Jerry Kilgore. Kaine is more liberal than Warner.

8. There hasn't been much talk about 2006
Except that Frist is leaving and Harold Ford Jr. may consider running for his seat. We don't change governors offen here so Bredesen may be campaigning for re-election later this year or next. Although there were rumors about him running for Frist's seat or running in 08.

11. I haven't heard about House seats yet
Just the Senate (Frist's) seat. Our congresspeople are a joke. They all voted for that pathetic Bankruptcy Bill. I am sure the congressional seats talk will heat up soon.

Edited on Sun Apr-17-05 12:57 PM by politicasista
They usually represent the conscience of the Democratic Party. (i.e. Ohio elections, Iraq war, etc).

17. I missread you're post
I may need to look at a link to see, but I remember Ford, Bishop (GA) voted for it. I may be wrong. I do know that most of our reps voted for it.

19. Those two are more moderate and arent as liberal as the caucus
You know who I really like in the caucus is John Lewis, such an American Hero, Roy Barnes should have made him senator when Coverdell died not Zell Miller.

22. He's one of the best
He should have been appointed to that seat, theres no doubt about it that he would have taken a total opposite approach than Zell did, remember how Zell gave the RNC Keynote, Lewis would never turn on the party, hell he would be among the most libearl senators, unfortunely, I Think its because of that, that he wasnt appointed but he is one of our best members of congress of any skin color or background.

16. i just think complaining about it gives it more attention
and takes focus away from other things.

i have posted things on elections coming up in 2005 and 2006 a few times and almost nobody responds to those. including those complaining that Clark announcing takes away from midyear elections.

instead of complaining they could start posting things on the 05 and 06 races .

23. i agree, we need to make sure Democrats hold statewide offices in these
states. Virignia is still Republican but it's still one of the states where Democrats could win within the next 10 years. but we need something there to build up the party first. and having a Democratic Governor would help a lot.

24. As Virginia gets more and more diverse
Edited on Sun Apr-17-05 01:11 PM by JohnKleeb
It trends more dem IMO. My immigrant friends do not like Bush. ITs one of the things I love about living here by the way, you got old Virginians, transplants like me(my family came down in the 50's to get work since my grandfather didnt want to be a miner or steelworker and my other one was transfered here), Asian immigrants from places like Cambodia and Vietnam, Middle Easterners, Hispanics, Blacks, etc. I love the diversity, Ive been teaching my Afghan friend in government about the country and stuff, and though he considers himself a republican, hes still a good guy and I enjoy helping him out.

26. Don't get me wrong, I like Clark a lot.
I thought Kerry should have tapped him for the VP spot. I'm just concerned that the Clark worship and the abnoxious few who vociferously oppose him will mess things up on DU.
