36% (Yankee). You are definitely a Yankee.
The news is so goddamned bleak, it's hard not to be pissy. So thanks for the levity.
Latent pissiness is what fuels my never-ending search for great JK pictures!

My answers were almost all Great Lakes/Midwest. And I'm a 40% Yankee. ???? Were yours the same, or more northeast? Just curious.

But some of these are vague at best. I pronounced the honorific for my Mother's sister as Ahnt. (or Ahhnt, if I am indeed feeling pissy.) Nothing to do with want. So, the survey was not really on the mark. (And I still , on occassion, call a carbonated beverage tonic. Very Yankee. And very dated, I think.)
I just had no ideer on some of these! (LOL!) Oh well!

4. 33% yankee - definately a yankee |
|
I was surprised how many of mine were Great Lakes or, in one case Indiana. I grew up in the NW corner of Indiana, but have lived in NJ for 32 years.

I turned out to be 31% Yankee. A lot of my answers turned out to be Western Great Lakes, which is where I am and grew up.
Hey, I didn't know you MA people said "bubbler" for a water fountain too!! I thought it was only a Wisconsin thing. That's because the Kohler Co., which is here, thought up the name for their product some time ago. When I lived in Minnesota, and said "bubbler" people had no idea what I meant and thought I was nuts.

7. I got 41% (Just barely a Yankee) |
|
I'm kinda pissy that I'm considered "just barely a Yankee". I'm a life-long Masshole, I still call soda "tonic". Hell, I used to drink Moxie when I was a kid.

They just came out with PowerMoxie. (OMG. What the hell is in Moxie anyway? It looks like molasses cut with pure soda water. We used to have a hell of a lot more things made out of molasses, that's for sure. Do you remember MaryJane candies? Molasses and nuts that you could break your teeth on.)
The survey was a bit warped. It didn't know the pure ins and outs of the differences between, say NY/NJ and NE. Oh well!

11. Where do they still sell Moxie? |
|
I was looking for it at Market Basket recently, and I don't think they carry it anymore. :(
BTW, I'm moving back to Lowell soon, naybaah. We should meet up at Peasant Lane sometime... :hi:

12. Cool! They sell it in NH |
|
Of course, they sell everything in NH. (Need Red Sox stuff? The corner store sells everything Red Sox that is currently not patent protected and is made in China.)
Love to meet up. Twould be my pleasure.
And SuperMoxie sounds really kind of scary. (Think RedBull, only with Moxie!) My mother used to drink it. She always used to joke that if you don't drink it, you can always use it to polish your floors and furniture. LOL!

I'm a Florida girl with a Southern background - and I'm very proud of my heritage. However, I don't like that they call it "Yankee vs. Rebel" because I would never refer to myself as a Rebel, but rather as Southerner (I'm not one of those folks who thinks that "the South will rise again," and I tend to think the whole Civil War was a bad idea anyway), but I'm an American first and foremost. Sometimes it's hard being both a proud Southerner and proud Democrat - the two aren't mutually exclusive, however, and I think Bill Clinton and John Edwards are two of the best examples. John Kerry has made me warm up to Yankees, however, and I've learned that y'all aren't so bad after all :P
