And you thought the Boston papers were bad!
This little ditty below came from my very local paper near Pittsburgh. Notice how they have twisted the story and thrown in a personal negative about John Kerry also. I apologize if I am breaking any rules by posting the whole thing. I was unsure a link would have worked. Interesting thing is, I never read this republican trash paper anymore I just happened to review it today due to local elections.

Kerry campaign cash: Parking tickets and BoSox seats

Compiled by Tribune-Review staff
Sunday, May 8, 2005

If you donated money to John Kerry's Senate campaign committee recently, your money might have gone to pay the Massachusetts politician's parking tickets.
If you donated money to his presidential campaign last year, your money might have purchased tickets to a Boston Red Sox game.

The Boston Herald reported last week that Kerry, the husband of Fox Chapel ketchup heiress Teresa Heinz, had his Senate campaign committee cut a $287 check to the City of Boston Police Parking Clerk in March. The senator listed "travel expense" as the expenditure's purpose but the money actually paid about a half-dozen parking tickets in Boston a Kerry campaign leased vehicle had accumulated.

Most of the tickets were issued in October and November 2003. Guess Kerry was too busy buying Red Sox tickets with campaign contributions last year to pay the parking fines.

According to the Herald, the Kerry camp spent more than $3,000 for BoSox tickets in July when the senator threw out the first pitch and promptly was ridiculed for his, shall we say, less than masculine throwing style.

That money may have been better spent on yard signs and bumper stickers.

3. They have been playing up the Delay is too effective angle
therefore, he is a threat to Democrats and we are singling him out for ridicule elimination. This paper loves Republicans and loathes Democrats. I just thought it was interesting that they felt a need to report anything on Kerry.

2. This has been floating around for several days
It all looks legitimate. If campaign vehicles run up expenses, this is a campaign expense, whether it is for gas, parking, or parking tickets.

Flying back to Boston to throw out the first pitch was an event which received considerable publicity, and therefore was also a legitimate expense.

I'm sure that if any campaign's expenses are scrutinized we'll find many expenses such as these.

5. This paper won't ever come out and say it is legit.
There purpose was to "expose" some wrong doing on Kerry's part. Unfortunately, many people in my area read this paper and believe everything they say.

8. If this is all they could dig up...
If I were them, I would be embarrassed to even print something like this. This is chump change compared to what Bush & Co have been doing since day one.

9. Oh, 600 yard signs. Yes, we could have won with those
:eyes:

If that was in 2003, it was the primary money. It couldn't have gone to yard signs anyway.

10. I don't understand this at all!
Why aren't they playing up the angle that the campaign ONLY had $300 in parking tickets. This is a friggin miracle. Any of you folks ever been to Boston and tried to find parking? I would have bet on parking tickets in the thousands. That whole campaign did better than just one of my relatives in a year. Geesh!

Also, those Red Sox tickets: Damn $3000.00 only buys you about 20 tickets, parking and hot dogs. They probably had to buy their own beer, since that is not deductible. Gawd, again, I know people who got tickets at Sox games. This is nothing.

11. Thanks for responding,
Actually, it was the "less then masculine" pitching that got me. Now what would they be trying to imply? I got the feeling it was in response to Bush's hand holding photo-op.
