My anti-war music video - thanks to Noisy Democrat :-)
Noisy Democrat inspired me with her Kerry/Edwards music vid last week to finally try to create one too. It's not a Kerry video but an anti-war/anti-Bush video. Nevertheless Kerry is also in it a little bit as I linked the Iraq and the Vetnam war. BTW, all the Vietnam war and protests scenes in the video are from Going Upriver.

The video has 18 MB and you can download it here:

Please tell me if it doesn't work and I will try to find another place to upload it to.

4. I'm glad you liked it
I know the song since several years and when the whole Iraq fiasco started and got worse and worse, I couldn't stop thinking about the song.

It's really good! You should post it in one of the larger forums, maybe. It might make front page! :) :) :)

3. Good idea!
Thanks, Ginny! I'm glad you liked it. :-) I just posted it in the General Discussion forum. Unfortunately my homepage isn't big enough to upload the video there, but hopefully I'll find someone who would like to put it on their site.

I really like it. Do you take requests? I was thinking of doing a video but I don't know how to take images from other video's and do the sound over it and all that. I was wanting to have a video to the Foo Fighters song "No Way Out" from their new album. I hope you don't mind if I share it with people. Is that okay?

8. It was my first try...
Thanks to Noisy Democrat who told me to use Ulead VideoStudio it worked fine. But I'm afraid I can't take your request because I won't have the time to do a second one soon. Try the software! It's really good. And yes it's fine to share it with people. :-)

9. Good job!
I really liked it -- and I'm so glad my vid inspired you to give it a shot. The song was touching, and the images were heart-wrenching. I also liked little touches like the way you zoomed in on the collage image of Bush until we could see soldiers' faces. Was that hard to do? And how did you get clips? I saw you used a couple of bits from mine, but where did you get most of that news footage?

10. You really inspired me :-)
I got my footage from a different variety of anti-war/anti-Bush documentaries. I have them all on VCDs, so it's not DVD quality but it was o.k. so far. The best material came from Fahrenheit 9/11 (thank you Michael Moore! *g*), but I took also some bits from "Control Room" - the docu about Al Jazeera -, "Gunner Palace", "Independent Media in the Times of War", a German TV Special about the 2004 elections and all the Vietnam scenes from "Going Upriver". And I filmed two scenes myself: the girl holding the soldier's picture is my daughter because I couldn't find a scene that worked for that line; and the zooming in on the Bush collage... I just filmed it from my computer screen and zoomed in with the mouse, not the camera.

BTW, I intend to put my video on my site and wanted to ask you if I could probably put yours there as well. It's just a personal homepage not a political site (http://www.the-readiness-is-all.de/ if you want to have a look, but there really isn't much yet).

11. Wow. Nice.
I am going to give this a try. I know how to use Windows Movie Maker, but I'm not sure what to do once I'm done.
I have an idea and a song. I guess that's a start.
Any advice? Your vid is great!

12. Give it a try!
Try Windows Movie Maker and if it doesn't work correctly download the trial version of Ulead PhotoStudio9. I ended up putting the clips for every line of the song together with the Movie Maker and then I assembled the whole movie with PhotoStudio. You have to mute the original clips (if there is sound) and add the song to it, then create your movie file (wmv, mpg, rm etc.). And then you have to find a site to upload it to. You can do it with www.yousendit.com, as Noisy Democrat and I did, but they store the videos only for 7 days. I'm just figuring out a way to put the videos on my private homepage. If you create one and want me to upload it to my site, just let me know. It only shouldn't be bigger than 20 MB.

13. I am working on it now.
It's all photos, as this is my first shot at it. I like the song and the concept I have chosen, though, so it should be interesting, if not technically perfect.
I'll let you know how big it turns out. The song is over seven min long, so I'm a bit concerned, but again, no vid, just photos.
Stand by...this should only take me a month (LOL).
Thanks for your advice. I'm looking forward to sharing this.
