Need an opinion
Somehow I've managed to get myself on Hillary Clinton's mailing list (Friends of Hillary). I think I must have signed an on-line petition or something (that's all I can figure out). Anyway, I've taken myself off of her e-mail listing , but today I received a survey through regular mail: "2005 Critical National Issues Survey". Of course she doesn't only want my opinion, she also wants my money (which she's not getting).

So, my question is this, should I go ahead and fill the survey out anyway and send it back to F.O.H. without a donation? There is also a space for additional comments. I'd like to put "Please, Please don't run Hillary" but I'll probably refrain from that.

So what do y'all think. The survey asks a lot of pertinent questions, but do you think they care at all about the responses or just about the money? Of course if this was from JK he's already have my survey AND my money!

1. Send the survey without money.
It is always interesting that they get good advices, even if we cannot contribute.

BTW, there were rumors that she used the term "Democrat Party" and not "Democratic Party".

Is it true?

2. I don't see that per se, either in the survey or the letter
The only thing I see that might be vaguely interpreted as that is in a section where they ask questions like:

1) Which of the two political parties do you trust the most to protect Social Security and Medicare benefits of senior citizens?

_____ Democrat _____ Republican

I guess that could be interpreted as "Democrat Party" or "Republican Party" if someone wanted to. That's the only thing like that I see.

4. I've always been very suspicious of those "surveys"
The technique always seems a little dishonest. ie We want your opinions - then there are a series of questions that lead to almost all Democrats agreeing. Has GWB been a good Preesident? The surveys are sent only to known Democrats - and I seriously doubt the results are tabulated. Then as way of closing, they innocently ask for money - the one I got from Hillary had dollar amounts you could check and sfor some reason there was an * by $35 that was explained as this amount would be especially helpful - as I just contributed to Kerry's Kids First, I didn't contribute.

By coincidence, I got a robot call from Corzine - that seemed nicely done today. They said the calls were to registered Democrats. They asked for contributions, volunteering, or if these two were impossible whether I would vote for him. They then asked for email if you wanted to keep informed on the campaign. So - others are clearly copying Kerry's email list usage. (which went to a different level than Dean's etc and seems very issues based. Unfortunately, I bet he will back Hillary if she runs in 2008. I like my other Senator better.

5. This survey also said $35 would be very helpful
I went ahead and filled it out just for S & G's and will send it back to them without a donation. I know it probably won't be read, but I did make a comment in the space provided that I would not support Hillary in the primaries, should she seek the Democratic nomination.

6. Well, I'll play devil's advocate here and say, don't answer
the questions,(she is using them to form opinions) don't give her any money,(she certainly has no problem getting donations from corporate donors and former Bill Clinton supporters) but comment that she shouldn't run for the presidency. I'm sorry, I realize I'm not being very nice, but it is honestly the way I feel about her right now.

7. that happened to me too.
I started to fill it out, and then I got mad because the first question
was about what do you think the most important issue facing America is today. It was a list of things. But the one thing I think is the most important is the Iraq war, and how it all was a lie - dsm/treasongate, and that wasn't on the list. I started writing to her that she was out of touch with the democratic party and that it's no longer the same party that it was when her husband was Prez, and how we don't want a republican-lite to run for office . . . on and on... bash, bash, bash:spank: so I threw it away :)

Today I got an email from Ted Kennedy wanting my money.

I give to the DNC every month. I wish that everyone would stop asking for money. and that we had a central place to donate to, and they could distribute it as needed. I only work 25 hrs a week!

8. I've filled it out and added all kinds of unsolicited comments
but I'm not 100% sure I'm going to send it back. (Indecision may or may not be my problem.) If she's using this to form opinions, she's gonna have to swing way to the left to make me happy.

I agree with you Pirhana, I also wish everyone would stop asking for money, at least for a while. The Bush economy isn't exactly conducive to making multiple political donations. (Maybe that's his master plan.)
