'Felt Needs' and Cindy Sheehan
When I saw Sen. Kerry earlier this year, he spoke about these 'felt needs' that were building up in the country. He said that the desire of Americans for a clean envirnoment, a decent job and to affordable health care, to a fair and impartial voting system that didn't discriminate against anyone and to a foreign policy that made sense to the world and that reflected the actual values of a fair and decent people would not go away. In fact, these needs were builing and no amount of lies or spin would make them disappear.

I think Cindy Sheehan's protest down in Crawford proves the merit of what the Senator was saying. Ms. Sheehan's heart-breaking vigil to find out the real reason why her son died and to confront the President who she believes lied to the American people in order to get this war is a true 'People's Revolt' against an uncaring and unfeeling entrenched power. I think this is a taste of things to come and that Ms. Sheehan's courageous stand is the beginning of a movement for reponsibility and accountability.

I think Sen. Kerry was very correct in his assessment in April: The American people know that they have problems that are being ignored by their government. I share the Senator's optimism that the people will start to take these matters into their own hands and demand action.

Go Cindy! You represent that noble spirit that propelled ordinary farmers to take up arms against tyranny in Lexington and Concord so long ago. You represent that wonderful American notion that "We're not gonna take it anymore." God be with you and look after you. I am another American Mom for Cindy.

1. If anyone has missed it, here is an excellent piece that was up on
the Huffington Post. It is about Cindy Sheehan. Please read the entire piece, it is worth it.
