http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2005/08/12/thou_art_no_romeo/?rss_id=Boston+Globe+--+City%2FRegion+NewsBoston is famous for the two swans that inhabit the Frog Pond at the Boston Public Gardens. (Just a few blocks away from the residence of Sen. Kerry.) Last year the swans laid some eggs and there was a great deal of excitement at the prospect of some hatchlings.
Well, it turns out that Romeo and Juliet are actually Juliet and Juliet. Virtually every person I know, locally, who heard this story involuntarily chuckled, before shrugging their shoulders and then remarking on what a nice and beautiful couple they are. The prevailing public opinion is running against introducing male swans into the Frog Pong area, as swans are teritorial and it probably won't work and because, eh, they're happy, leave 'em alone, mind your own business. (The typical Boston reaction to most alternative, adult, mutual consent relationships.)
So, I wonder when Sen. Perfect from PA is going to come out with a statement blaming the same-sex swan couple on the 'liberalism' of Boston? It just sounds like something he would do. Then he can deride the swans for setting a bad example for all the children who come to Boston to ride the Swan Boats. Then he can blame it on Sens. Kerry & Kennedy because, well, it's their fault Boston attracts same-sex swans. (Honestly, my dear PA friends, doesn't that sound like something he would do?)
