Birthday greetings for Sen. Kerry
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 06:58 PM by LittleClarkie
His birthday is Dec. 11. I was thinking of sending a birthday card, but then I thought it might be nice if we could all send birthday greetings. I'd copy them and send them along with the card. I'll say I should have the messages no later than the 8th if I want to get the card in the mail in time for him to get it around his b-day some time.

What do you think? You wanna?

3. Suggestion
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 01:57 AM by Spera
I think that's a wonderful idea. Also, here's a thought: make a donation to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in John Kerry's honor and have the acknowledgement card sent to his Senate office. I do this a lot for the birthdays of some of my favorite celebrities/public figures, as well as for friends that prefer not to recieve gifts, with charities they support or that have personally touched them.

Kerry's Senate addresses:

Washington D.C.
304 Russell Bldg.
Third Floor
Washington D.C. 20510

Boston
One Bowdoin Square
Tenth Floor
Boston, MA 02114

Springfield
One Financial Plaza
Springfield, MA 01103

Fall River
222 Milliken Place
Suite 311
Fall River, Ma 02722

Worcester
90 Madison Place
Suite 205
Worcester, MA 01608

21. That's a great idea!
A lot of charities let you make gift donations, odds are anyone's favorite charity does so. I made a gift donation at the Human Rights Campaign and had the card sent to his D.C. office with the message "Happy Birthday Senator Kerry!"

8. Here's just fine
It won't be fancy. I will probably transfer them to a single document when we're finished, so that there will be a page full of them or more.

Go ahead and use this thread. No sense in adding another.

10. Go for it!
For some reason, I didn't realize that he waqs a Sagittarius. If ONLY he could be our president rather than the shrub. Sagittarians have a reputation for being quite forward thinking. This is what I'd like to say in the card, and it's true:
When I was 18 years old, I chanced to see you on TV. I had no idea who you were or what your name was. You were talking about the Vietnam war and you were so passionate and eloquent. I turned to my mother and said, "I've got to find out who he is. Someday he's going to run for president, and when he does, I'm going to vote for him." And I did. I wish you a Happy Birthday Senator Kerry!

15. Since we are sharing Birthdays..
Mine was December 2nd. I had hoped to see John Kerry on TV for my birthday, but I got to read the Congressional memo to Blackwell instead. That was a pretty nice gift I must say.

18. My b-day is November 29th
Lots of Sags in this thread, it seems. I have been intending to write John Kerry a letter for a month now, and have never gotten around to it. His birthday would be a good occasion, I suppose. Now I just have to collect my thoughts and decide what to tell him.

17. Advice about the card if you wouldn't mind giving your 2 cents
What do you think about a standard Hallmark card. Too cheesey? Or should I try to homemake one with a desktop publisher. That might be better actually. I could say something about still having his back or something then.

Also, I saw a humorous birthday card with a senior Harley biker theme -- sort of a "over the hill" type card. But somehow I'm not comfortable joking with someone I don't know. What do you think?

I don't know why I'm so worried. I'm sure it will be fine.

19. I am sure that whatever you choose will be great
I think a humorous or a homemade card would be best. If you want to make the card, I am sure we can come up with something nice to say.

23. We Will Always Have Your Back John!!!
Edited on Tue Dec-07-04 02:21 PM by angrydemocrat
Keep fighting the good fight, standing up for what is right for our country and all the American people. You are a true American hero in so many ways to so many people. You have inspired us to fight for what is right and never give up hope. I miss seeing you and hearing your voice everyday as do many, but we all know we haven't seen the last of our hero John F. Kerry. We will be there for you anytime you need us for any reason you would need us. Because Mr. Kerry I must say WE HAVE YOUR BACK!! I hope and pray you run for president again in 2008 because we truly need you and our country is in dare need of a great leader that so many Americans know you will be. No matter what you decide, wether it be running for president or running for the Senate again, come 2008 you can believe you already have faithful supporters ready to roll up their sleeve's and get back to work. After all you are our hero. I hope you have a happy birthday and all your wishes come true.
