Really honorable of him to do this, this guy knows what it is like to lose someone, he lost a lot of friends in Vietnam. Nice to see Teddy Kennedy there too, John, Ted, you're good men, your state is privileged to be represented by two such great and honorable guys.

1. thank you
that pic literally brought tears to my eyes, as did the pic of him in Election forum placing flowers on the casket (not sure if it was the same funeral).

4. Yeah
I saw some of the ugliness. Disregarding that, that picture really was moving.

8. Definitely
He actually cares. He's actually a caring human being unlike the current resident of the White House and when people are saying that it was a photo-op, it really pisses me off. Why on earth would he need a photo-op? He doesn't. Why can't he just be a good person who wanted to show support for a grieving family that has lost their son. He's willing to look into the eyes of a mother that has lost her son in an immoral war unlike our "President" who doesn't have the guts to face what he's done.

5. My thoughts on the funeral
I joined the Army straight out of college. I literally trusted my government with my life. I wanted to serve. I spent six years on active duty with Clinton as Commander in Chief. Although I became more wise and cynical, I never questioned my service or lost faith in my country.

I look at what we have become in such a short time. My heart aches for the soldiers and their families. There are so many that joined when I did, when our country stood for something better.

John Kerry knows what is in the hearts of those soldiers because he was there. He knows what it means to send troops into harms way because he was touched by it personally and deeply. As I stared at the photograph from Arlington, I see the compassion and conviction of someone that can be trusted with the lives of our soldiers. I see someone that holds every life as precious, and that would never send anyone's child into harms way unless there was no other choice.

I honor the Marine that served, and I honor all those that took the time to pay tribute. Thank you Senators Kerry and Kennedy for your service and for taking the time to pay your respects.

9. when Kerry came back from war and protested it
some of the big things he did as part of the vietnam veterans against the war was try to get the government to help the soldiers who returned with things like education, jobs, health care etc.

his own group provided some help with the money they got in donations.

but it's just an example of how much Kerry cares and it goes back years. i posted some pics in the politics forum and someone came on claiming it was a photo op. but Kerry has been attending funerals for years , and especially since the afghanistan and iraq wars where soldiers are getting killed. he never used any of this in his campaign. i get so tired of the people on here sometimes. it seems their only intent is to complain, even when Kerry does a good thing they try to claim he is doing it for the wrong reasons.

i'm so glad to see you defend him on here. and this is a nice group to get away from it all.
