Poll question: Poll: Are there any men on this forum
When Discerning christian came on she immediately remarked that this forum is mostly women. (Yup, it's that obvious. And we didn't even have a haiku at that point.)

So, how many men check in here. (Lurkers, register, please.)

And where the hell is Kleeb lately anyway?

1. We have more then one male checking in here!
At least four that come to mind, Kerry 2008 (I think), Ron, Corey, and Kleeb.

6. So, we do have lurkers here
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 08:59 PM by TayTay
I suspected as much. I knew there were people who checked in here just to see if we were naughty.

WE ARE NOT NAUGHTY, that much. Anymore. (For gawd's sake people, I was brought up Catholic. Guilt is a way of life for me.)

We are a serious discussion board with occassional burst of, ahm, enthusiasm that exceeds the stated goals of this group. (It a pressure-reliever.)

Why are you checking in now? The pressure to reveal your gender just got you or what?

Okay, one more and I delete the thread. Geez. Who knew the are you a male or female question would unhinge some people. Live and learn.

8. Whats going on? All you did was ask a serious question,
one which I have wondered about myself and some pervert has a problem with that?

9. We, apparently, have a lot of lurkers
I kind of thought we did. I think it's that scintillating discussions about George Allen that brought them in. Some people just can't get enough of a good 'bash George Allen' thread. Can't say as I blame them.

I thought it was an innocent question that I might get ten responses to tonight. (Silliness of poll questions notwithstanding.)

Ahm, is it the scintillating foreign policy discussions here? The camaraderie? (It's the haiku's stupid.) Or maybe we just have a lot of people who secretly love us, but don't actually want us to know it. (Awww, that's so sweet.)

16. My turn to make out with him next!!
What the hell did I start?? Seems I have a penchant for stirring things up!!? Just had a row tonight with someone on another thread that really pissed me off. After my final reply to them on line, they wrote me a nasty email!! Didn't even have the guts to post it publicly!! Needless to say it was with a John Kerry HATER!! What's up with some of these people? I thought we weren't supposed to attack each other? Maybe I should stick to my Kerry group for a while, and lay low. What do ya think? They're making me  DC

Guess what, I thought that this was the case, and I already did! I was asking for all your opinions, to assure myself that I did the right thing. I only reported the email. Thanks for the reassurance, cause this poster has over a thousand posts, and her over reaction wasn't even something I wrote to her, it was to another "newbee" I thought I was trying to help??!! The newbee never responded to my post at all, but boy this other one sure jumped on it!!:nuke:

13. With my vote we're tied 25-25

I guess everyone here knew I'm female, but it's funny how often I get mistaken for a guy online. My friend thinks that my name, Noisy Democrat, may sound masculine to people. I thought it was my writing style. Hmm.

How many people on DU even bother to check the profiles of posters? A good many of them give their sex (now, now!) If I check one that doesn't, I assume they want to keep it a big secret, so I address them as dear sir or madam or hey you!!:P DC

I'm a girl, but my username is pretty special and if you didn't check my profile you'd probably assume I was a guy.

Anyone know if there is a way to change your name? I've wanted to change it since like the day after I registered. Maybe'll I'll just start a new account.

25. I recall one opportunity
After the election they offered the opportunity for people to change their names. The rational given was to allow people who used names based on a candidate to change to something else.

31. You have to start a new account and you have to have a new e-mail
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 10:28 AM by Pirate Smile
address to do it.

I had to do that to change my name a long time ago so I've actually been around longer then it says in my profile under this name.

If you open a new account under a new name, you could put in your sig line or in your profile that you aren't a newbie, you used to be so and so.

edit - I just checked and I joined in Feb 2004 and changed to a new account with a new name in August 2004.

Lover's Haiku:

huge imposing girth

foot long anyone?

kerry's massive staff
heat seeking missile o'mine
please come to mama

gargantuan rod
velvety tool of terror
it coats, soothes, relieves

I am sated. (For now.)

As to the deleted post: Some people think you need a big hammer. Other people think it's the skill of the person wielding the hammer and the mysterious ability to hit the nail on the head every single time. Personally, I go for the craftsman. That way the hammer gets used properly and no effort is wasted. That's just my personal opinion.

And hello to all the guys in this group who monitor us. I know it's the scintillating foreign policy discussion that keep you coming back here.

From Superman: The Movie (1978)

Lex Luthor: Some people can read War and Peace and come away thinking it's a simple adventure story. Others can read the ingredients on a chewing gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

39. That's okay. As long as you tolerate those of us who do
It's the peculiar charm of this group; half of us are really, deeply truly appreciate of all of the Senator's chahms. The rest are deeply amused by this and find it kind of funny. Again, I think the 'LLL' portion of this group helps it to sparkle.

And we love all our posters in here. Every blessed one of ya. Cuz every blessed one of ya are the reason this is a great group.
