Statement on Kerry Senate web site about Katrina's victims
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the thousands of families affected by Hurricane Katrina. Katrina's unprecedented devastation has cost those in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi their homes, their loved ones, even their lives. Our great nation must come together to comfort and bring relief to those in the Gulf Coast suffering from this blow. Local leaders and National Guard forces have bravely started the effort, but they need all of our help. Please visit the link below to learn how you can help our fellow Americans affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Nice to see. Step two is to nail That Friggin Idiot's ass to the wall for his criminal neglect of the people of the Gulf in the aftermath of that storm. On this there can be no letting up. Bush is a bastard who deserted his nation in a time of need.

He did what was necessary for today.

Tomorrow will be the time for being whoever is responsible accountable. Today the urgent is to help people...

3. I would hand him the nails to do it with.
Seems to me this is a perfect example of why we can't cut down our infrastructure to try to save a few bucks (and then they squander it all on corrupt war profiteers anyway). And now the citizens have to pay the price. Louisiana's governor, a Dem, must be seething by now. There are some things you just can't skimp on,and emergency funding is one of them!

4. Imagine - a government official responding to a crisis
in a timely and responsible manner. How novel. Hmmmmmmmm - other folks like, I don't know, our dumb ass, criminal, chicken-shit "President" should try this approach. I'm SO SORRY he had to interrupt "getting on with his life" and return to his job a day earlier than planned. Tragic really.

I think my hatred of the Idiot Son is approaching levels that I didn't think possible. (Thus the sarcasm.)

Anyway, thanks for posting this. If John Kerry was president right now, he wouldn't have been able to stop the winds and rain (but maybe some of the flooding) and I guarantee you those folks on the Gulf Coast would be a whole hell of a lot better off right now.

5. Given Sen. Kerry's off-the-chart pissed response to the Energy bill
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 08:45 PM by TayTay
I expect first:

some statements that will focus on alleviating the suffering of human beings first and a call to compassion and generosity on the part of everyone who can respond. (And if you can't respond with money, cuz it's gonna get real tight, real soon, then you can donate blood.)

Next week, when Congress reconvenes, I expect a followup to speeches already given. (And go back to the Congressional record site and bring up July 29, 2005. Read Sen. Kerry's and Sen. Wyden's speeches on the Energy Bill. They are now beyond chilling.)

Sen. Kerry has been fighting against this kind of short-sighted abuse of the environment and non-conservation of resources and for the wise use of energy his whole public life. He has been a champion of the environmental and conservation movement in everything from saving ANWR to advocating for renewables to trying to lower foreign energy consumption. Add that to a natural inclination to hate lying in government and to taking offense to waste and corruption and you have the makings of one pissed off Senator. And Congress and the floor of the Senate and the talk shows is the proper place for this to come out. First we mourn our dead, see to the needs of the suffering and make plans to house and feed the homeless. Then, watch out.

Classic, even.
You're right, Tay Tay. A time for every purpose.
