Kerry seen at restaurant during *'s New Orleans speech--
(Sorry if I missed a post about this while I was gone, and this is a dupe.)

This website is a watchdog (watchhound?) for Fox News, and reports on a Fox report:

http://www.newshounds.us/2005/09/21/petty_kerrybashing_on_the_grapevine_gossip_minute.php

True or not (this WAS reported on FOX, after all),I must say it make a funny picture, if you imagine it. ;)

1. The RW has been using that as a way to indict Kerry
Edited on Sat Sep-24-05 05:55 PM by Mass
The main reproach was that Kerry never looked at the TV during this speech. It was actually funny to read that. Note to Bush handlers: you listen with your ears, not your eyes. (that may explain a lot in Bush's ability to listen).

It has been all over the RW blogs and editorials since after Kerry made his speech on Monday. A sure sign the speech was efficient.

4. I think Mass and I are subscribed
to the same Kerry news alerts. They're very enlightening if you can stomach them - a great way to track Kerry smears more than anything else. I did very much enjoy this particular smear attempt. It was actually hilarious - the righteous indignation - how dare Kerry criticize feckless leader without actually listening to the speech????

Of course, the image of Kerry calmly enjoying his dinner while * was speaking is funny enough. What makes the story even more hilarious is the fact that anyone can rebut a Bush speech without actually listening to it, since he always recycles the same three ideas

they hate our freedom
Saddam = 9/11
terra, terra, terra

6. Yeah, the "didn't look at the t.v." part is hillarious.
Like, kids? Some presidents use their brains. Because they have brains.

16. Kerry was smart.
He knows that eating while looking at Bsh is not good for one's health.

heck - I get sick when I look at Bsh even when I'm not eating!

3. Well that does it - I can no longer support John Kerry
:sarcasm: How dare he not watch Dear Leader as he addressed the nation while standing in front of Cinderella's Castle. :crazy: Is this the best FOX can do? Is this the biggest indictment they have against John Kerry? Give me a break! To me it just shows the intelligence of the man not wanting to ruin a perfectly good dinner by watching Chimpy spew lies.

Anyway, aren't speeches like this pre-released to Congressmen and Senators? I would think so because they always have their responses ready immediately.

5. Gee, that is really desperation on the part of Faux News!
You can really see the flop sweat on these guys as they try the last appeal of the desperate: He did it too! (This is the lamest of the lame and almost never works.) On the date in question, 9/15/05, Senator Kerry had reason to celebrate:
Tax Relief for NG Vets

Senate Passes Kerry Legislation to Provide Tax Relief, Help Guard and Reserve Troops Hurt By Katrina

WASHINGTON - Today the Senate passed legislation proposed by Senator John Kerry (D - Mass.) that will provide financial support to National Guard and Reservists through immediate tax relief to their employers affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The provision is a modified version of a key part of Kerry’s Military Family Bill of Rights and was included in the tax package that passed the Senate today. It provides a tax credit to employers in the Gulf Coast impacted by Katrina who pay reservists that are called to duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Gulf Coast or elsewhere.

This was the first piece of the legislation that he proposed on 9/9/05 that would:

Significantly aid small businesses affected by Katrina;
Institute a plan that would improve coordination, planning and execution of disaster plans;
Design FEMA Regional Emergency Evacuation and Preparedness Centers;
Help Youth Rebuild Their Communities by utilizing the YouthBuild program;
Providing Housing as Part of Long-Term Recovery.

Kerry Hurricane Recovery Legislation

No wonder Faux NEws is trying to smear him. Kerry did more in one week to help people affected by this natural disaster than * has done in his whole Presidency.

7. Also, if you parse Kerry's statement,
Edited on Sat Sep-24-05 10:38 PM by karynnj
the content of the speech is irrelevant. Nothing Bush could say would erase the fact that his administration did nothing for days.
Kerry said; 'Americans want an end to politics as usual that leaves them dangerously and unforgivably unprepared, not speeches in the aftermath to explain away the inexcuseable.' There's nothing in the statement dependent on the speech. Monday's speech did deal with the details of Bush's speech. (so he either listened or read it later.)

I'm sure Kerry enjoyed his meal more facing the direction he was in. Maybe their next bit of news was that he was a bad role model because he had a large piece of chocolate cake? Somehow not watching Bush seems neither against the law, the Bible or common sense.

9. He was probably eating something
that he wanted to keep down. I know I tend to get a little nauseous when * gives a speech.

10. I think Kerry knew what * would be saying
same old CYA he always says. And Kerry was right, * was, "too little, too late." I would have turned around and attended to a good meal and not listened to that idiot speak as well. And the speech was a dud! * didn't do anything accept pretend to be a Democrat and pretend to do something. Kerry made the right choice.
