Just a song
My son has a band in NYC and I was just listening to one of his songs. They get it.

I cried when I saw the first picture they put to go with their song The World I Know, a soldier smelling a letter from his sweetheart from home.

The picture they put with their song Tyme is also very telling. In this song they tell about the lying on the war and taxes and no lessons learned.

Their music is alternative rock, so you may not dig it, but I thought the pictures speak for themselves.

5. Hey girl where have you been?
Thanks for listening. Don't you just love young minds. Hopefully they will continue to get the message through.

10. Hey back!
Been hanging over at The Democratic Daily with Pam and Ron and Marjorie G., Dave from Princeton, etc. A safe place to have Kerry's back, like the old days.

Glad to hear your son is making such fine music, I really truly thought the song was great!

3. That's fantastic FedUp!
Thanks for posting! One of my good friend's son (who's 13) is in a band and even at that age they also very thankfully also "get it". Right now they play a lot of Green Day and other bands with progressive messages.

I thought the song was excellent and the lyrics very powerful. Even though it's sad that songs like this have to be written in the first place, I'm very glad that many of today's artists (garage bands, major recording artists and everyone in between) are making music with a message. Music surely has to be one of the very best ways to reach young people, and to help them process what is going on in the world.

Thanks again for sharing!

7. Proud yes
2 and half years ago, after not being satisfied in Art school, you know artists they like to do it their own way, he came to me and said I want to go to NYC and dabble in writing, music and art. I told him to go fulfill his dreams.

They have made many contacts, but he doesn't want to jump to quickly, the music business can be pretty fierce. They play at a lot of clubs in the city, and this summer had a sold out crowd at CBGB's. So we are keeping our fingers crossed, but the most important thing is that he is doing what he loves and loving every minute of it. I told all my kids to do what they want, no matter what others may think, as long as they are happy that is all that counts. So far I have 3 very happy kids. Thanks for the kudos.

8. Congratulations.
I have three kids too, all of them musicians of one sort or another. We encouraged them to follow their dreams as well. Even if they don't end up doing music for a career, following their passion will help them to figure out what they should be doing.

My older son has commented on how unhappy some of his college friends are who slid right into their "career job" immediately after college. It seems like a few years of banging around trying different things and not being so safe is good for the soul.
