Not serious at all: Sox are in the playoffs, anyone from IL |
|
and a White Sox fan? We could discuss our differences. I anticipate a lot of mostly idiotic but fun stories in the papers comparing Boston and Chicago.
Any White Sox fans out there in Kerryville?

Though, it is fair to note that my loathing of Chicago sports teams does not extend to the Sox. I don't care about them one way or another, No, tis the CUBS I despise.
GO CARDINALS! The Series is ours this time, Boston. Fear the Redbirds!

4. Oh - don't you dare dis my Cubbies!!!! |
|
I grew up in a divided house. One brother and my dad are White Sox fans - they are so excited. My other brother and I are Cubs fans. I think my mom was a Cubs fan, tho she was pretty neutral.
So my dad and brother are very excited!
I am glad the Red Sox made it. Seeing the Red Sox make it two years in a row gives me hope for the Cubs.
I'm suppose to be a Diamondbacks fan. They did win that one year, but so typical for Az, they win and then trade everyone away.

I'm hoping the Cardinals go all the way. I haven't seen a World Series championship in my lifetime, and I think I'm due.

6. How can you dislike the Cubs? |
|
They suck:P And a true democrat always cares about those less fortunate - lol!
How are the Cardinals doing? I really don't pay that much attention to baseball, other than where the Cubs are in their division, and yes - where the d-back are too.

The Cardinals and the Cubs are contractually obligated to hate each other, much like the Yankees and the Red Sox. Cardinals are playoff bound, top of the NL Central - sadly, the Cubs aren't gonna make the wild card cut. (Sadly for you anyhows :P ) Looks like the Astros will, though. Fucking Astros. I hate them so.

Have to admit I'm a New Yorker ( you know once a New Yorker always a New Yorker) but I despise the Yankees, always have always will. I'm a Mets fan for life, I just wish they would win more. It was great watching them this year since one of my daughter's classmate is the 3rd baseman, oh well.
I have never really been a American League fan, but since I've been in step and watching every move of a certain Senator, and baseball is my favorite sport, and that series last year was the BEST, I sort of like them now.
I love this part of the season. Go RED SOX. I also hope the Padres do well, living in San Diego for 7 years we lived at the ballpark, so have a soft spot for them. But I think the Cardinals will win, I just hope they get those damn Braves.

I've been one forever, even when they sucked really, really badly. I know everybody hates them, but you've gotta admit that Bobby Cox is one hell of a manager (he just can't seem to win the big one). I'll be pulling for the Red Sox in the AL.
Do you ever go to Tides games FedUp since you're in the Norfolk area? (And since they're a Mets farm team.) That's a really nice ballpark.

7. You got to see the Beatles??????? |
|
I am SOOOOOOOOOOO jealous. I am a die hard Beatles fan. I have Beatles posters hanging in my house.
I did see Paul McCartney once, when Linda was still with him.
Did you see McCartney's new commercial? It's for some Investment firm. Wtf is up with that? Has Paul become part of corporate Amerika? I was taken aback by that commercial.

In 1965, at the ball park. That year I had tried to get tickets and failed. A few days before the show, one of my best friends called and said she had 2 tickets because a family she baby sat for ended up with extra tickets and invited my friend (and me) to go with them. Then I saw them in 1966, at the International Amphitheatre.
It was very very hard to hear anything. It took real effort to even know which song they were singing, but I scribbled a list of the songs to prove to my parents you could really hear. It was a strange very wonderful experience.
We just saw the McCartney show last Friday - The show was one long set between 2 to 2 1/2 hours long. His voice is still great. Fidelity is associated with the tour - but it's mostly in a good way. It is for an organization called Music Lives that is trying to keep music programs in the school. (And he according to a news paper account - sang "there will be an answer, let it be Kerry" at a fundraiser for some chartity in LA last year ) We also saw his last show - which we loved.
We started getting tickets for shows when it hit us that we were spending time rapid dialing to get our daughters tickets for shows they wanted to see (No Doubt, Garbage, TLC, Christine Aquilera, Madonna and even Avril Levine), that we should get tickets for shows we wanted to see. So, we've seen Springsteen (hey, this is NJ), Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle, and the Rolling Stones.

11. I saw No Doubt last year - they were playing with Blink 182 |
|
and I got stuck being the chaperone of my daughters and my two nieces. I loved it. No Doubt was great! I was pleasantly surprised.
I saw the Stones in Chicago in '71. It was not one of my favorite concerts. In Chicago, rowdy crowd, I was 15(?). I remember feeling uneasy more than I remember the music.
When I saw McCartney, he put on a great show. Definitely a nite I will not forget. I would have loved to see the Beatles. The crowd must've been wild when you saw them. 65 & 66 was right in the middle of when they were on top of the world.
