Where Democrats speak up - not that it will change something
Two letters were sent yesterday and today to the administration to ask for actions. Of course Kerry was part of the two. Some will say that Democrats are silent.

One on the Iraq policies, signed by nearly all the Democratic caucus (Feinstein was apparently the latest one to sign).

40 Senators seek Iraqi strategy from President

And one concerning Amstrong Williams to the DOJ, signed by Kennedy, Lautenberg, Kerry and Dorgan.

In a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Sens. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., and Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said questions of fraud remain for the department and for Williams.

1. And Kerry was among the few Dems quoted by AP on Bush's speech.

Democrats challenged Bush's arguments on the Iraq mission.

"The president went into Iraq under a false premise, without a plan, and has totally mismanaged our involvement," said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. "Now he is trying to justify his actions with a series of excuses."

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., said Bush "continues to invent a false link between the war in Iraq and the tragedy of Sept. 11." And Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., said Bush "has offered America a false choice, between resolve and retreat."

3. Very true. But the Admin only knows how to use
the strawman argument that posits false choices, so at least they are consistently awful.

The letter was good. I think Russ Feingold was correct that the Dems are starting to come to a consensus on how to oppose Bush's polices in IRaq. This is great news!

6. I think the administration uses it as a devise to win
the lazy - They posit that anything is only their way or some unacceptable way. The media plays along in categorizing everything as one of the 2 ways. So they either say the Democrat's idea is the same as theirs (like they did to Kerry on Iraq) or that the Democrat supported the other alternative.

4. And two more,
One on the refineries and one on energy independence. Then there's the one in GD about Cantwell and some Reps fighting the GAS Act on Friday. Thud.

5. they are saying it--that the Dems are silent
I was listening to public radio today, and two supposed liberals were agreeing with each other that the Dems are not stepping up and speaking out. Needless to say I was yelling at the radio(was home alone-lol). Sheesh--do they not realize that the GOP controls the government's message today? And dominates the media? Just what would they have our Dems do--they ARE speaking out, but nobody is paying attention!
