Not really seasonal,
but I'm really hating Dubya today, so I thought I might try a John and George picking up babies contrast thread. Let me know if it's too much George and I'll cease and desist. ;-)

23. I LOVE Kerry with babies
:loveya: George looks so weird when he's with babies. John looks like a natural dad with them and is sooo cute with them. *Sigh* The kids seem to enjoy being with him.

4. All of the photos of JK are sweet
but that last one just melts your heart!! He's just so gentle with them all. You can tell a lot about a man by how he interacts with babies.

Meanwhile, shrub* looks like he's never held a baby in his life, and/or like he's handling toxic waste. (The poor babies just look as if they are collectively terrified.) What were their dumbass parents thinking handing their children to a sociopath?

5. You always see Kerry
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 04:57 PM by whometense
trying to look the babies in the eye. He clearly sees them as little people and is interested in them. George holds them as if they were - I don't know - I was going to say the props they are to him - but I like your toxic waste better.

The funny thing is, you'd think (this being the Kerry group and all) that I was stacking the deck with the pictures I chose. But I'm not. It's next-to-impossible to find a good picture of Bush holding a baby, and it's next-to-impossible to find a bad one of Kerry.

24. Aww with Kerry!
He's trying to protect the baby from the sun. SOOO CUTE!!!! I love it! My favorite though is still of him with kids at a school and the kids are looking through the window to him outside like he's a superstar.

7. That top picture is the most jarring Bush and baby picture, I've ever seen
He is grinning and looking the other way, while the baby cries. Many of the others might just reflect that Bush had little real contact with babies, while Kerry clearly is the type of guy who was an attentive dad who loved being with his own kids and other people's kids. Especially with the very little babies, Kerry looks so protective, securely cradling the babies in his arms, looking like he feels honored to be allowed to hold them.

8. That baby and that little girl sum up my feelings EXACTLY!
shrub* really looks like he enjoys making the little tykes cry. Probably some power tripin' thing. Kids just really seem to take to JK - you'd think because he's so tall that maybe they would be intimidated but obviously not!

25. Aww
That little guy looks so sad. I saw a picture once of Kerry in black and white when he was younger and he's reading to kids and a little girl is is laying on his leg.

9. This is a HILARIOUS thread
All those pics of * with babies are hysterical!

John is so good with kids. I think it's indicative of his huge heart that children and animals take so well to him.

Here are some more:

I just got home, what a great thread to open up! I love John and babies and kids. I always though the campaign should have just run John and baby ads and John reading to kids ads and nothing else for a year straight. I don't see how anybody could see these pictures and not know this man's heart.

That would've kicked ass for the soccer mom's. Especially in swing states. I like Al Gore with kids too. Have you ever seen Gore with his grandson? So cute.

16. IF his daughters ever have kids,
I think Kerry will just not let them out of the house. He would make a great grandfather. He really looks comfortable with kids. I love those pics.

Kerry is so tender and gentle with the kids and really seems to make the kids feel comfortable. Considering that I am seeing these in press photos that were taken in less than ideal circumstances for the kids, these are freakin amazing.

I just love this pic. It's another 'tender' pic.

17. One more. These are irresistable!

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., holds Michaela Fishback, 5, of Waterloo, Iowa as she asks him to autograph a photo of the two of them from a previous event, during an airport rally in Waterloo, Iowa, Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004.

20. OMG! Bush looks like he's about to bowl with that baby.
I hope the mother intervened and saved the poor child.

And, ahm, I agree. A man who is good with kids is just irresistible. Kids have a honest take on people and they react instantly and genuinely. I love a guy who isn't afraid to sit on the floor and really talk with kids and deal with them on their own terms. You're right, big turn-on.

29. Yep
One thing I've noticed with Bush is he doesn't ever directly look at anybody. Kerry makes eye contact and treats you like you're an equal and I love when he coos with the babies.

21. all of these pics are so wonderful!
I think I know where this one came from: a "front porch" meeting in Ohio, a working class neighborhood. Cspan carried it live. He carried this baby around for some time, as he talked to the father about jobs, etc., until finally the baby tried to eat the mic. I loved that meeting!

30. Cute
I remember seeing a picture of all of them (Kerry/Edwards family on the stage) and Kerry is playing around with Jack. I remember shortly after the last election reading how the Edwards kids went to visit John and Teresa and Teresa baked them a cake and spent the weekend with them. I thought that was so cute.
