It looks like things are cooling down |
|
I'm glad I went home for the weekend and got away from the internet and DU and the "blogosphere" and the "netroots" and all that crap. It was like a breath of fresh air.
Thanks everyone for your support in my other thread, and thanks TayTay for your post reminding us of the big picture. DU is a small fish in a big, big pond, and what the wingnuts say is of absolutely no importance. That acknowledged, they still piss me off most of the time x( but I guess I should just take their idiocy in stride. For someone with an incredibly volatile, passionate temper, this is a big task. It's all about baby steps. :P
Also, I particularly enjoy that we have been called Nazi brownshirts on DU. It makes me feel good to know that the vitriol they have for Kerry, they also have for Kerry supporters who see through their lies and spin and show them for the cowardly keyboard warriors they are. However, I would sure like to know how this site gets off on telling us not to "call out" other posters, while it is apparently okay for other posters to refer to us as lackeys, henchmen, brownshirts, apologists, "monkey wrenches" (whatever the fuck that means), etc.
OH WELL. I have the link to the Kerry forum bookmarked, so I can bypass the Lobby and Greatest pages and just come straight here. It does help out the blood pressure.

1. Hey, I was told I have sleazy words. |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-06-05 10:50 PM by TayTay
And that I have been using my sleazy words to oil my way around GD and cast aspersions on people with no cause. (Because saying that a national political figure sickens you is not just cause for sleazy words. LOL!) Oh, and I'm condescending as well. (I use humor and that is not fair. People who use humor are fighting in an unfair way and their sleazy words make some people feel bad.)
That was a good one. I'm sleazy and the rest of you are brown-shirts and the Kerry Mafia or something. Damn!
---- Sleazy TayTay. My husband thinks I should save up my choicest sleaze and use it on him. Men, go figure.

2. Glad your back and I agree with you. We're accused of ganging |
|
up on other posters, yet it is ok for "other posters" to gang up on JK and us for defending him. We aren't suppose to post links here to other DU threads, but I wonder how it's possible the bashers seem to all gang up on Kerry at one time. Someone must be alerting others.

3. I wonder how they're doing it - because they all come quickly enough |
|
It may just be they live on GD-P.
What's strange is that by and large our posts are positive while theirs are more often negative - I mean I know they are mad at Kerry, but what are they happy with. Yet we're the bad guys.

when they out themselves as certain supporters. They all have the same talking points which are nothing but old primary conspiracy theories of why their guy lost.
Don't you know the only reason Kerry won the primary was because of DLC and corporate media. Geez, how many times do we have to listen to that BS. They will never get over their loss, and spewing their talking points all over the internet make them look as bad as they did back in the primaries.
They haven't learnt their lesson, and they wonder why their guy lost. :eyes:

7. I went back to look and can't find that post--think admin yanked it. |
|
Some of the other borderline offenses were allowed to let stand of course--I guess "monkey wrench" isn't exactly an actionable insult.

8. They hate us for our 50,000 posts. |
|
;-) Obviously if some of the other potential 2008 candidates were as busy and accomplishing as much as our John, the groups that focus on them would be as prolific as we are, and they wouldn't need to waste everyone's time in GD-P spewing venom. Just a theory. ;)

10. Well, we have the 50,000+ posts because of who we are |
|
A group of people who are more interesting in sharing info than in beating someone over the head with threats. We have a lot of fun in here, and that serves to lighten things up and make it feel welcoming.
There are a lot of people who mistake being loud for being correct. This is not true. Loud is just loud. Normal human beings do not like being preached at or told that they are 'dupes of the crypto-fascist zombie brigade.' (Tip of the hat to Marc Maron on AAR.) They also don't like being around absolutists who believe every argument should be settled with, "because I'm ethically better than you and way purer in 'the cause.'" (Ahm isn't this the reason so many of us detest the Bush Admin, becuase they simply shut down debate and claim moral superiority and that anyone who challenges them is anti-patriotic?)

you all have no idea how familiar these posts are to read. And yes, using humor is considered being armed with a deadly weapon. :eyes: edited to add: And the use of facts... omg, that's even worse! Danger, Will Robinson! :P

11. WOW! I must have missed something! |
|
But things seem nasty as ever today. I have been jumping into threads defending JK so I guess I will be criticized too. I didn't know we weren't allowed to defend JK anymore! Sigh.

The day I stop defending Kerry on this forum is the day they ban me. Which, if the current trend continues, may not be too far off. But we have to fight this ridiculous trolling bullshit or else we may as well not be here anyway.
