1. Oh yeah, Kerry talking about McCain |

and how McCain was misrepresenting his benchmarks on the 20,000 troops.
Love this. Go head to head, people, this is great.

3. McCain's speech is here: |
|
http://mccain.senate.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=NewsCenter.ViewSpeech&Content_id=1622hehehehe. I love these boxing matches. I also love, love, love the fact that Sen. Kerry did not let a news cycle go by without getting his own thoughts out there. Nice job.

14. I didn't see anything in there referring to Kerry's plan |
|
Perhaps he ad libbed that part? I skimmed the speech, and was especially annoyed when he blamed the media for why the American people are against the war. Excuse me, but the media is not there as a propaganda tool for the * administration. And if insurgents blow up American soldiers or 50 Iraqis, sorry to say but that's news. I was not impressed with what he said. I should e-mail this speech to people I know who LOVE McCain but are against the war. then we'll see what they say about him.
Now I'm thinking this war is the main rift between Kerry and McCain, just like Vietnam used to be.

9. He was great on the other amendment too |
|
His solution of getting both Roberts/Rockefellers and Biden's amendments as secondary - under his more general one is brilliant. I don't think Roberts' even understood it. They have an agreement on the maximuam number of amendments and Bidens' (which they seem to agree with) could fit as a secondary to Kerry's - but not to Roberts. Roberts wants his to substitute for Kerrys - but Kerry pointed out that nothing of the substance they want is changed if its a secondary but not a substitute. (Are they that adverse to Kerry getting his name on anything?)

It's been happening all year. It's incredibly juvenile and obnoxious. Kerry authored the Small Business inititives for NO, it was first Kerry, then Kerry/Landrieu, then Kerry/Snowe, then as they voted on it - it became Snowe/Vitter, with Kerry added as a co-sponsor the next day. (There were parts that came form Snowe at the point it became Kerry/Snowe. The heating oil assistance bill started with Kerry's name on it too.

12. Glad you guys figured that out. I hadn't a clue what they were |
|
talking about. Biden sort of looks like a mobster today with that grey suit.
McCain: Ha -- I guess I need to look at McCain's speech. But I wanted to see a bit of a pissing match between the two, face to face, live. Damn. that would have been good. Maybe some other time.
Great speech. At first it seemed to be a repeat of the Georgetown speech, but he added more outrage to it. Okay, I feel pathetic now having waited all day for this speech . . .
Oh yeah, when you're in the Senate you kind of HAVE to talk like a Senator. But I just think that language needs to STAY in the Senate where it belongs.

If Kerry's Amendment on the prisons get passed, wow! that is really something. It has some pretty broad implications. Nice work.
The Iraq Bill will be a long slough. I hope the Rethugs let it out of committee. The hearings alone would be great!

Most people don't understand how exciting it can be to watch c-span or how frustrating it can be. I jump up and down, cheer, boo, swear at the television. This isn't a sports match: it is a deadly chess match and the outcome determines the fate of the world. How can anyone not get that?
