C-SPAN Alert: Kerry to Respond to Bush Attacks - NOW!
C-SPAN Alert: Kerry to Respond to Bush Attacks
November 14th, 2005

John Kerry will respond to Bush’s recent attacks on Democratic leaders on the Senate Floor in a short time … Kerry is set to address the War in Iraq and Prewar Intelligence. Tune in to C-SPAN 2 now.

WASHINGTON - Today Senator John Kerry will make remarks on prewar intelligence and the war in Iraq. He will answer President Bush’s political attacks on leaders who have had the courage to ask tough questions on the lead up to the war.

Last week Kerry introduced the Strategy for Success in Iraq Act, which proposes to bring the vast majority of our combat troops home in a reasonable timeframe tied to specific, responsible benchmarks to transfer responsibility to Iraqis - beginning with the draw down of 20,000 U.S. troops after successful Iraqi elections in December.

2. Great speech
Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 04:08 PM by Mass
He is attacking Bush on his lies and, at least, he is quoting his 2002 floor speech and his 2003 Georgetown speech. Clearly mad that Bush has attacked him.

I hope it is replayed so that people can see it.

I hope someone got it on video. He hit on everything, and I was so glad he quoted his remarks from 2002. Also for all those naysayers, he actually said LIES.

8. What an incredible speech -
I missed it, but read it on KG's blog. This sounds very close to a call for impeachment.

Bush should have learned that it doesn't pay to anger Kerry by distorting something as important to him as his decisions concerning going to war and in effect questioning his honor. I hope at least some of this makes the news.

18. that was my favorite word
"impeach". :)

How could the WH not think that Kerry would respond to such a specific attack? How could they think they had a leg to stand on?
I suppose they are just looking to impress the base, who would not listen to anyone on the left.

this is a speech you need to see (or at least hear). Bush has forgotten that it is never good to have a P.O. Kerry after you.

It was as close to a call for impeachment as Kerry could afford.

11. At least at this point, the comments on DU-P are amazing
There one even speculating whether this would match the 1971 speech. Some people are just completely in awe - which is as it should be.

Who was it who posted in the thread on seeing the Winter Soldier film. That a VVAW person said the movement used Kerry because he was the most articulate person on the planet came to mind as I read it. I still want to see it because it reads beautifully.

I went over there, and hit recommend and there were already two bad comments on there. What idiots reside in kossakworld. Nevertheless, let's try to get this thing in recommended diaries anyway:

26. Did everyone see where I was called out for playing politics
whereas the poster has a son in Iraq. You know, she has every right to be angry, but I'm anti-war and so is Kerry, but it's not good enough for her so she dumps on him and even little ol' me!!! I wrote a response but I'm sure she'll send more venom my way. I think for someone like her she simply hates Kerry for losing. Because he lost, her son will be in Iraq again and again and again. She has the right to feel that way, but I just feel lousy about the whole thing. And I don't think we got it on the recommended list. Ugh. That site may as well be Fox News, I find it so maddening.

Hey, Fedup, thou C-SPAN guru -- when are they going to replay that Kerry speech. I need to see it so I can get the Kossak yuckies out of me.

Many thanks to KG and Babylonsister for posting heads up threads in GD. I usually miss out on seeing his floor speeches during the day, but I saw their posts and was able to watch it at my desk. Thanks again guys!

I loved his line at the end "We don't need a Campaigner in Chief, we need a Commander in Chief." (I think that's how he worded it.)

It is truly amazing how presidential John Kerry is. I think * is well aware of that fact too, and it's getting under his skin. (Happy, happy, joy, joy.) John Kerry smacked him good today!

21. What an incredible speech!
Just when you think John Kerry can't possibly get any better...he DOES! My daughter watched this with me and she's not a fan of C-Span. She was glued to the set. It was amazing. We didn't have a clue as to what he was going to say because we'd been out all afternoon. What a shocker!

There was such anger in this speech. The sense of betrayal he expressed was profound: the President of the United States lied to Congress to take our country to war. Senator Kerry didn't use the word lie, but it was there in the tone and the context of the speech.

This was a history-making speech. Even my daughter was mesmerized and she's a tough audience.

but the part I saw was amazing. He was furious. The funny part is, I was watching him on my computer before the sound came up and he didn't look that angry. But his voice - wow.

I do hope someone recorded it. I really want to see the whole thing.

25. Wow. Clip on NPR news. JK kicked some ass!
They just played a couple sentences on NPR - I had it on low and wasn't even listening until I heard JK's voice, then I grabbed the remote and cranked it. Man, just in that one or two sentences he laid a smackdown. He sounded pissed!!! YEAH!!!

(now can someone please find a video clip of the full speech?)

Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 08:40 PM by TayTay
My spider-sense was tingling yesterday. (Well, Thursday night when he said he wanted to participate in the discussion on the Iraq Amendment) I got that feeling that this was gonna be good. I got the whole thing. (I took a chance and set the TIVO for 3:00 -5:00. Bingo! Right in the middle.)

I did tell you guys to pay attention. (I did!) Couldn't you feel this coming? I mean that thing that the Shrub did on Friday was just awful and disrespectful and a friggin lie. Of course Senator Kerry had to respond. (The gauntlet was thrown down. He had to show. I have never seen him back away from a fight. He loves this stuff.)

I really hope C-Span replays this. It was amazing. That was one pissed off Senator, I can tell you that. (I know this is awful of me, but he just seems like such a Mass person then. Someone gives you crap and you get in their face and give it right back to them. With gusto. I'm so proud. Oh, and he's much classier at it than anyone else I know.)

Where's Whome? Honey, please tell me you caught this! That was friggin great!

39. I will notify people if I get this next week.
I am all thumbs on this. I will make whatever generic, vanilla, DVD comes off of your garden variety recordable DVD machine. Then you can all have one.

I can't do this until Nov. 26th, my hubbies Birthday. (Okay, Maybe the 25th.)

I had a feeling that Sen. Kerry would be on the floor yesterday. (Nothing more. Just a feeling. Sometimes those are dead-on, sometimes I just delete the entry on the TIVO when nothing happens.) I got all of his speech because it was within the time frame I set the night before. I won't erase this. (Heck, I still have the Georgetown speech on TIVO, cuz it has 90 hours for taping. Anyone want a DVD with both?)

Send me a PM and give me an address. I will compile and make copies. But it will take at least a week. (My apologies. I just can't blow the B-Day gift yet.)

seeing Kerry give a great speech!

I hope there will be a link to watch for those of us that
have to work.

I got to listen to ** speech on the way home from work, and he was pretty powerful, not his usual bumbling self. And all I could think was that he had to do this. And then he said that the dems got the same intellegence as he did. I'm sure the people in the next car heard me scream "LIAR!"

Now that I heard ** speech, I wanna hear MY president's speech.

32. That was great, wasn't it!
I mean Lord, that was good. I bet that felt very liberating for Sen. Kerry to deliver. He got to say what was on his mind and not hold back.

The gauntlet was thrown down. That Friggin Idiot disgraced himself on Friday with that venom spew on Veteran's Day and personally called Sen. Kerry out. He friggin called him out. Well, 'my boy is wicked smart' and he doesn't shy from a fight. So he punched back, but in an appropriate venue. This is vintage Kerry. (He had to show. It's just in his nature. You don't back down from that kind of bullying and raw disrespect. You just don't.)
