This is sad.
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 05:44 PM by ray of light
I'm reminded of the kerryblog that had a number of veterans who were returning to Iraq. I often think about them and hope they are somehow safe. I wish they all were safe.

I hope I'm allowed to post this link to GD.

Why is it that those who never served, are the same ones saying, "Stay til it's done." or "We support the troops." OR all those evil people who stuck the purple bandaids on their cheeks during the RNC! EVIL, hateful, contemptible, corrupt people.

AND I know people who never served but still repeated the Republican band aid drivel. And they never view stories like this either.

2. Reading that gave me chills.
That is so sad. I don't think hell is going to be hot enough for George W. Bush and his evil henchmen.

4. So Sad
I cannot write what I am thinking. As a military wife for 20 years, it just hurts so much. Bush props himself up in a flight jacket in front of our soldiers who clap on order, he has not one bit of a heart for those who give so much more than he has for this country.

While writing this on the news it was just reported insurgencies are up and 5 more soldiers died today.

Clinton got impeached for a blow job, no one died. Bush has killed thousands, what is wrong with America, and how dare the Republicans let this criminal get away with it.

6. Egh, the band-aids. Worst. Convention. Ever.

Seriously. That was possibly the lowest thing I have ever seen any critics of Kerry or Kerry's statements on the war engage in. It was so disrespectful to our candidate and all others who served. I was also enraged by the number of people in my own city--which is known nationwide as a good, supportive environment for veterans to return to after service--who bought into it. One day, in mid-September, I was lending my support to a Veterans for Kerry rally, and standing next to a WWII/Korea vet who was counting the number of drivers who waved supportively, and the number of drivers who made rude gestures, etc. Some asshole actually stuck his arm out the window of his car and yelled at my friend, "hey, I have a paper cut on my elbow, do you think I could get a purple heart for that?" My friend gave him the stink eye and he quickly rolled the window up and sped away. I was really, really embarrassed for that jerk, as well as the children in the backseat of his vehicle, and sad for my friend who had to listen to that crap.

7. That stinks!
That's what I thought given the amount of Veterans who actually regret Vietnam and those that actually support Kerry or ABB!

They have totally abused things.

That's why 06 is so important. WE have to break up the Republican media monopoly and we MUST get air america on armed service radio. OUR tax dollars pay for Rush Limbaugh they may as well give them some Randi Rhodes too!

We MUST fight were we live for 06.

I will be fighting for my local democrat and against the Republican even though I think I am not entirely pleased with her record!

But now more than ever we need a majority!!!!

8. This is the horror that * has brought down on us
I just read through that entire thread with tears in my eyes. I hope this story gets out to people across the country. They need to know the real impact of their votes in 2000 and 2004. And they need to understand that it doesn't have to be this way.

10. It is precisely because they haven't served that they say
these awful things. Look at that hideous Schmidt thing that uttered the coward word about Jack Murtha on the floor of the House last night. She has no right to do that and she came off looking like a vicious jerk.

My brother became a big Kerry supporter last year because of the Rethug smears at their disgusting convention. My brother served for 6 years in the Navy in active duty and then served 18 more years in the Reserves. (He retired in Dec. of 2001.) He was just disgusted and deeply disturbed by the chicken-hawk false bravado that the Rethugs celebrate. No true military person celebrates war, they understand that it is a last resort and something that happens when politics fails. It is supposed to be a last resort, not an opportunity for liars and fakers to make political hay.

Reading stories like this make last year's loss so hard to take. I think Mr. Kerry understood and understands, having gone through the trauma of war, what it does to people. He was and is a Veteran's true friend, as his proposals to help vets in this session of this Congress alone prove.

BTW, the spending bill that just passed Congress had a amendment in it to increase mental health spending for Vets by $500 million. But, the tax cuts for the rich got in the way. And you could look it up and see who in the Senate values vets and who just values money.

Edited on Sun Nov-20-05 12:06 PM by fedupinBushcountry
http://senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/g_three_sections_with_teasers/legislative_home.htm

Click on votes and you can see every vote if a recorded vote was taken on these admendments.

Scroll down to 109th Congress and click, that should bring them all up.

FedupinBushcountry.

What they've done to vets really annoys me!

But what is the bill number? Was it house or senate or both? Was it passed into law?
