|
Here are message counts from today for these DU supporter groups:
Hillary--63 Feingold--83 Boxer--85 Warner--114 Gore--164 Conyers--268 Kucinich--846 Edwards--402 Wes Clark--7,816
And John Kerry...(drumroll)...55,038! :) :) :) I guess we just loves him more.

1. Some of those people just use GD and GDP as their personal playground |
|
There are times I think GD and GDP ARE the Dean forum. Nothing against Dean, mind you...

If Clark became more active, he could easily dominate the discussion as much as he does the polls. I don't get it, but they don't get Kerry - so I guess it's fair. But they've often had 5 or 6 threads about a single Fox appearance. Their threads seem to happen mostly in the main forumns where similar Kerry ones on his appearances happen here first and often only.
As he's not in the Senate, they can't have the fascinating who did he talk to on the floor of the Senate when voting threads. :)

4. The Clarkies go to other forums when there's a poll |
|
and bring people over here to vote. They've admitted it. So, I'm not surprised that Gen Clark wins every poll. Nothing against the General or Clarkies. I happen to like him and most of his supporters that I've met/spoken with.

I like Wes Clark and most of the Clarkies I've interacted with are knowledgeable, committed liberal Democrats. (With one really special exception.)
Most of them that I've seen don't HATE and resent JK the way some other people on this board do. Again, there are a few glaring exceptions.
And even though there are a lot of them, they tend to take the same sort of shit from other DUers that we take - not lefty pure enough, etc. Most of the old-timer Clarkies here are basically fair when it comes to Kerry.

6. I just could NOT figure out why he won every poll, though |
|
until one of them told me they went out to other sites for recruits. LOL. I guess if you need to win a DU poll that badly... I guess I could start calling all my friends and family to vote in the DU Kerry polls. Or not.

I really do hate when magazines like the Nation and TNR actually fucking publish the straw polls at DKos as if they have a pulse on the netroots or whatever. Like Kosbots aren't mostly of one mind anyway :eyes:

16. I agree with that assessment - |
|
the vast majority of Clark supporters are gracious, knowledgeable, and totally accepting of the Kerry supporters. I also like the General as well.

My daughter was home from college for Thanksgiving and I was at the computer reading the forum, and she said there are so many kids at my school who still talk about Kerry everyday, she said she thought some were obsessed with him. I told her , well it could be that he inspired them and made them interested in politics and showed them what citizenry is all about and they want to keep that conversation going to remind people what Kerry is still doing for the country, she agreed immediately. I said John Kerry is to kids your age as John Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy were to my generation, I said that is a very good thing.

Why can't they go to MY college?
Sadly, the liberals here at UIUC tend to be of the wealthy private school "progressive" upper middle class variety who were largely attracted to Dean and Kucinich and tend to be very lefty freepy. Nothing against kids from the city, but this is my observation.
Ask me about my rabid Deanbot ex-boyfriend sometime, who was so uber-liberal yet who lived in a gated community in Northern Virginia and whose father was a VP for Exxon Mobil. :puke:

Once, we had to drop the idea of doing something to support our troops without supporting the war because it might offend those who were anti-military.

10. That's great to hear Fedup. |

That college kids are still interested in Kerry, I mean. It seems like his campaign did make a lot of college outreach efforts, especially with his kids and Cate Edwards traveling to various campuses. I'm glad to hear that he had such a great impact on young people. (Including those who post here!)

11. He also seems to have done at least some of his most |
|
important speeches at colleges - Brown, Georgetown and MIT in the last few months. Two of the campaigns most important were at NYU (Iraq) and University of Philadelphia (Terror). I wonder if it's because he not only reaches the kids at the school he's at but all their network of friends via life journals or emails from high school friends.
I'm constantly amazed by how in touch my kids have stayed with their friends. (I dumbly mantioned how shocked I was my first Thanksgiving while a college student at how much some high school friends had changed - they were shocked that I hadn't really kept in touch.)
