A few more (way less exciting) photos from Boston - Sorry, no JK
Edited on Thu Dec-15-05 08:11 PM by Island Blue
Fanieul Hall - site of the saddest speech ever delivered by JK on 11/03/04. Also a site that begs the question, Why is John Quincy Adams naked?

My favorite house on Beacon Hill.

Vektor, Roz & WEL pre-JK pub visit.

Vektor and Tay Tay. Something about getting lost in the folds.

1. Cheesus, and that before I started drinking.
Yikes. I gotta stop going to Super Cuts. Me thinks those $13.95 haircuts are just not doing it for me anymore.

Seriously, I love this pic. TayTay and Vek, going to town, having some fun. Life is good.

It always amazes me the age group of the people that post on forums.
I remember at the JK forum how I was always shocked that there were so many people online on the weekends, and not out partying. Then I found out that my age group was in the majority.

Makes me laugh cuz I hear that your a democrat when you are young, and a republican when you grow up. Well there goes that theory! Unless it's because none of us have grown up yet :)

29. with me it was the reverse
Republican when young, Democrat when I finally got some sense! For me, it was learning that we are all in this together, and that people aren't always to blame for their bad luck in life. It created a "sea-change" in my thinking, I guess.

I've been soaking up all of your "basking" and GLOWING reports. and still being totally in envy, I find out that I am probably the oldest Kerry Lover in the group?????????? Tay Tay, you are so much younger than I imagined !!! God, my oldest daughter is 50 yrs old, and I would guess that you're younger than her?? Y'all make me sick! (kidding) Keep posting those beautiful photos, 'cause just because there's snow on the mountain, doesn't mean there's no fire in the furnace!!! Vector dear..........I've felt about John as you do since he came home from Nam, so I can really relate. Always knew he would be President one day too!!! ( by the way, if most of you don't know, I'll be celebrating MY 67th birthday in January. I didn't realize that JK was that much younger than I !!):grouphug:
P.S. I lived in MA for 20 years from '64 til '84. Met John once in the Berkshires when he and Teddy were both young and tall and slender!! Poor Teddy needs to get some tips from John on keeping fit!

34. This proves that age doesn't mean a thing...
Reading your posts, I thought you were about Vektor's age!

Reminds me of what a friend once said to me
If you didn't know how old you are, how old would you be?

What is so amazing is how there is such a variety of ages represented here, and we all are working towards the same goal.

37. Thanks Luv, I needed that!!
In normal circumstances ,I really do feel like my age is very deceiving. Most persons I tell my age don't believe I'm over 50. For the most part, I seem to be stuck in that "era" of time. Lately though I'm beginning to FEEL much older, like..the spirit is willing, the mind is willing, but the body says..........NO NO NO !! I love to dance, can't anymore. I used to walk all over the place, can't do that anymore. If I had to walk up Beacon Hill with you.........I'd have never made it. Since I've become a widow, I've really put on the pounds, and it's not so easy to get rid of them when you get older. I know that there's still a voluptuous 140 pounder inside me somewhere, but the 210 pounder is hiding her, causing her knees and back to give out, and taking her very breath away when she tries to take the dog for a 20 min. walk!! I'm going to keep trying tho' because I'm ready to find another "special someone" I have been very successful in the past with the "Carbohydrate Addicts Diet" Lost 75 lbs. over the period of a year, and kept it off for 4 yrs. Ya know, it's not that I don't have the willpower or the drive to do it again, but damn..........buying special diet foods is EXPENSIVE!!! Fresh veggies and stuff like that are getting up there! Maybe if there's anyone else in the group that is having weight problems, we could have a contest or something! Maybe we could help motivate each other? Although from what I see of the photos, those numbers will be few!!

38. Why thank you.
Another vote for 'TayTay's wisdom makes you think she would be older.' Well, I can dream anyway. (LOL!) I appreciate it. And I second the idea that you seem Vektor's age. It's really true, you're as young as you feel. (For me, some days it's 12, other days it's 112.)

I am still trying to clean up a couple of photos. The red eye is awful. I am going to have to call in some photo doctors to get my 4 pics in shape. Otherwise, they look like parodies, not pics. (So sorry. Twas the fault of the photographer, not the equipment.)

Be well and take care. And Beacon Hill in the ice nearly wipeed me out. It was not one of my better ideas to take that walk that day, I should have waited until Sunday.

8. You'll have to ask a Masshole (not just an honorary one)
about the building to the right of Fanieul Hall  . The rounded part is not part of the Kerry home. WEL was wearing the JK Sexy T-shirt when he came in and he loved it! I have a few others that I would like to post but I need permission from GRLMGC and Fire first - we promised not to post pics of each other without permission. (How considerate are we?)

After getting hugs and kisses and pics taken with JK and THK. We all about died when he walked in the room a short while later.

As for JK's house, I believe the rounded area is part of the house next door.

The building to the right of Fanueil Hall is just a bunch of stores and restaurants. The tower you see above it (which appears to be attached) actually belongs to another building a little further away, the Custom House, which is somewhat historic. I think it qualifies as 'old', but not 'wicked old'.

13. Oh, I see now
I did think they were attached. The Custom House. I have no idea what that is, and it's not right that you have so many historic buildings that some can actually be rather unimportant. In my little town, we have, uhm, lemme see, hmm, nothing! hehe.

Thanks for the mini-tour.

20. The Custom House is 'old.'
It was a, ahm, Custom House and marks where the water used to lap up against it and ships would dock and people would have stuff to declare to US Customs. (Now it's further inland due to land reclamation projects.) It opened in 1847, so it's merely old, not wicked old.

It's on the National Register of Historic Places and has been converted into a Marriott Hotel. (Hey, she asked, I am but doing my geeky duty over he-yah.)

And no, I cannot be any happier than that. Didn't you get the memo? Bostonians are reserved, shy, navel-gazing and aloof. I would put that caption under the photo I think.

Mr. Kerry's House is part of a row of elegant old dwellings on Louisburg Square that are attached. (This place went through a major, major renovation in 1994-6. It was in all the local newspapers, ad nauseum.) He has #19, the end one. (Uncle Ted lived briefly in #9 on the Square a long time ago and he never got any snide shit for it. Sigh!) I love the architecture up there and can bore you about it for hours. (Seriously, hours. Don't tempt me.)

27. It's chahmin'
Ahm, Charming. Of course, as all New Englanders know, charming is a code word for real estate agents to use. Charming means it's old, drafty, needs a new roof, new pipes and a new heating system. But it's old and quaint. Caveat Emptor.

I've barely had time lately to read here, much less post...but I am so thrilled the Boston experience was a joyous one - and I love the pictures!

Speaking of age...ahem...I'll 'fess up. I turned 62 December 11th. That means JK and I not only share the same birthday, we're the same age.

I was confused about the card signing. I thought only those who were going to Boston were supposed to sign it. Darn.

I am so happy some of us could attend the birthday event to let our guy know we care.
