1. Done and with great pleasure.
I said that putting Santorum in charge of reform is like putting an alcoholic in charge of the liquor store; you just know it's going to end badly. Sigh!

I was on a plane and missed it.
:(
Maybe wisteria or MH caught the con call? I'm dying to know how it went.

Thank you all for signing, BTW.

10. I caught it.
Bob was great. Talked about how he introduced a 6-point plan for ethics reform back in November. (What took the republicans so long?) You can see his plan, btw, at http://www.bobcaseyforpa.com/ethics_plan.html .

Bob said that putting Santorum in charge of lobbying reform was truly a "fox guarding the henhouse" arrangement.

He also said: "No amount of spin-doctoring or standing next to McCain can sanitize" Santorum's past history with the K Street Project.

Jay Rieff (Bob's campaign manager) asked him to tell us what we could do. Bob's response:

1) sign the petition, and get as many others to sign as you can.
2) write LTTE's
3) call talk radio
4) generally keep talking it up in the blogosphere. (Bob or Jay specifically mentioned the blogs going nuts about this. Can't remember which though.)

That's about all I remember that was substantive. It was only a fifteen minute call, but it was nice.

13. Thanks.
That's so cool that he's coming down hard on Santorum for ties to K-Street.

7. Same topic, different action (DCCC)
I'm not going to be able to join this chat tomorrow, but it sounds interesting.

Dear Friend,

On Wednesday Democrats unveiled our Honest Leadership and Open Government Act, real reform on ethics and lobbying in Washington that will dismantle the Republican money machine that has taken over our government.

Our bill would put an outright end to gifts from lobbyists, close the revolving door where representatives immediately jump to lucrative lobbying careers, clamp down on companies like Halliburton who cheat the taxpayer, and shut down efforts like the "K Street Project," which Republicans created to tell corporations and lobbying firms whom they should hire in exchange for political access.

Democrats have unified behind these principles in a powerful show of force and conscience, from Democratic mayors of small towns to Democratic Leaders in the US House and Senate. Every major Democratic Committee has come out together in support, and we still need you behind us. I hope you'll sign the Honest Leadership Pledge.

I also hope that you'll join me tomorrow for an online chat about this, the culture of corruption, hot races emerging across the country and whatever else is on your mind. I've enjoyed these chats more and more with each one. If you haven't taken part in one before, there's no better time than right now, and if you have rest assured I'll try to address those questions and concerns that I couldn't get to in the past.

The chat will take place on Friday morning (tomorrow) at 10:00 AM Eastern (7:00 AM Pacific), but you can start submitting questions now - hope to see you there:

Online Chat with John Lapp, DCCC Executive Director

Time: Friday, January 20, 2006 -- 10:00 AM Eastern
Web Address: http://dccc.org/blog_chat

Hope to see you there, and don't forget to sign on to the Honest Leadership Pledge!

Sincerely,

John Lapp
Executive Director, DCCC

9. Already done. Thanks for posting!!
I was getting ready to post this at Freedom's Fire too. (Hey I just did post a Welcome to our new bloggers. Check it out. :) )

Did you join the conference call tonight? I thought Bob sounded great. I can't wait to meet him (whenever that will be.).

He talked about his ethics reform proposal that he introduced last November. Not that he's in any position to actually do anything, but at least he was on top of this before the rethugs proposed anything.

It's just amazing that Santorum would be tagged for "lobbying reform" after leading the K Street Project. It really shows the disdain the rethugs have for the ability of Americans to put 2 and 2 together and come up with 4.

15. Done, but I would never support Casey when they have a prochoice candidate
willing to run. A pro lifer anti choice candidate will never get my support. I am grateful I am not faced with this choice. But he is of course right anout KStreet!

16. Casey is not "on a mission" to outlaw abortion.
If you dig into his "choice" positions you will find him rather different than Santorum, actually. He's so excellent on other issues, and he's a good fit for PA voters, I think, given PA's conservative T, where his primary opponents have absolutely no hope.

other positions if he is anti choice. I sometimes give a bit(Not much as I haven't much) to out of state candidates and this sickens me too much to contribute. But I can understand being between a rock and a hard place but I have drawn a line in the sand. Some have a line drawn on the war or other issues. Mine is choice.
