Daou, once again, with a spot-on post |
|
If you weren't mad at the media for being right-leaning before, this list of "crimes" will do it: http://daoureport.salon.com/synopsis.aspx?synopsisId=e71b1310-cf02-4686-a7b5-c132f351e4adWe certainly do need a bigger megaphone. :(

3. This is such a comprehensive list |
|
This morning, Katie Couic had Mary Matalin on to discuss the shooting. This was the first time I had her show on since Kerry was on. She was so deferencial to her, the opposite of her behavior with Kerry. The overall tone was two friends talking about the problems a third friend is dealing with. Night and Day from the verbal combat with Dean or the rudeness she showed Kerry.
One thing Katie Couric mentioned (before Matalin was on) is that Fox DID NOT broadcast Cheney's comment that he had a beer! They cut it out!

5. thanks for watching so I don't have to! |

:) That's what's nice about this group--we can keep tabs on stuff without having to watch so much TV. I'm trying to cut down my news junkie's habit a bit.
Lately I like NBC the best of the broadcast networks. They are more willing to criticize the administration than even PBS, who seem to want to keep those corporate contributions coming in! I sometimes wonder how Jim Lehrer can keep a straight face. But NBC's David Gregory pulls no punches when it comes to the WH. And Brian Williams is committed to not letting America forget about New Orleans--has refused to stop covering it despite criticism. "A major U.S. city has been destroyed, and we feel it merits continuing coverage". So I watch their NBC Nightly News. For dessert, I watch Countdown. Keith Olberman is funny and loves to question the "powers that be" using his clever way with words and his great wit. :)
ABC is pathetic, and CBS isn't much better. Ted Koppel was the last good journalist ABC had! And John Roberts, the only one on CBS I liked, decided to give his notice when he found out he wasn't in line to be the next anchor. I'll be looking to see where he ends up.
CNN is good for on-the-scenes coverage, especially overseas. They have a lot of foreign infrastructure, and the other networks are cutting back. But they do lean to the right, or maybe I should say they lean toward whatever party is in the WH. They do in-depth analysis very poorly.

They know more from the jokes than they do from the real news.

9. it's really hard work. |

I'm just hoping to make a difference. I don't know if you've read through the comments but some of those kids are 'righties' as Ed Schultz would say. (lol)
But like today's posts, I wrote last night because I'll be gone all day today! Then the computer didn't save it right. So I had to rewrite them this morning.
But I really do need this scholarship...so I just try to do what I can.
Thanks for saying my site is nice. I hope others like it too. I'm just sorry I can't visit in here as much as I'd like to.

11. I did read through lots of the questions - esp on the one |
|
where your mom wanted us to answer the troll - where the idiot was repeating all the RW garbage that Kerry was a traitor - so I guess Nixon was just a kindly type of guy who didn't want to ruin a young man's career so he didn't arrest him. Somehow, MA let him on the bar and gave him a job as a prosecutor.

8. And THAT is why we need to take the media on - the average working stiff |
|
is not tuning in to those shows. They're too gawddammed tired to stay up that late. They depend on MSM news and radio where they are propagandized 24/7 by the corporate spin.

10. yep, the media is a huge problem. |
|
I think that's why it's so important to get dems elected. Maybe now they've been harmed enough that they recognize they need to change the laws about media consolidation.
